I’m an inner city Black man and I love this song. I actually sing it to my granddaughter.
-
We played this at my mother's funeral. She was born in Red River County, TX. She was the first female barber in Texas.

Why is American country music so awesome? I’m from Eastern Europe, now in Australia but have always loved country music. I got no American background, haven’t been to the US, but this music just goes to the heart... amazing

From this valley they say you are leaving We shall miss your bright eyes and sweet smile For you take with you all of the sunshine That has brightened our pathway a while Then come sit by my side if you love me Do not hasten to bid me adieu Just remember the Red River Valley And the cowboy that's loved you so true For a long time, my darlin', I've waited For the sweet words you never would say Now at last all my fond hopes have vanished For they say that you're going away Then come sit by my side if you love me Do not hasten to bid me adieu Just remember the Red River Valley And the cowboy that's loved you so true

12 years ago I left a comment when I found this video... My grandpa used to sing this to me since I was a baby and it always made me cry but I loved it so much cause he sang it to me ... He was sick and suffering.... On may 6th 2021 my mom, grandma, and myself where at his side and told him it's okay to go ... I told him I'll always remember the red river valley and the cowboy who loved us so true... Then I played this .. it looked like he was singing along and then he passed before the song finished ... I'm heartbroken and devastated and won't ever be the same again ... Rip grandpa ❤️💔😭

My dad used to sing this to me every night before bed, and his mom to him, I am listening to it my first day away at college

I used to sing this to my little girl before she passed away at almost 8 years old. This song has a lot of meaning to me

We were blessed to have had the voice of Marty Robbins on this earth. His voice is classic and timeless. A hundred years from now people will listen to his music and still be moved by it.

You yankees can be cross with me but I differentiate between country and cowboy music, this is true cowboy music. Lovely.

My grandmother loved this song. While she was on her death bed I couldn’t be there my brother was there and I told him to play this song as I knew this would help keep her at ease♥️ RIP MOMO I LOVE AND MISS YOU SO MUCH.

My grandfather passed away last year. He loved old western music and country just like my grandmother. Now me and my father miss him every day for now the three amigos are now two compadres. It’s rough some days for I have lived next to him for all my life for 21 year nearly 22. I miss him greatly. At least he doesn’t have to suffer with any disease and sickness anymore at least he’s with the lord.
