ABOUT DRESSRELIEF
My name is Mariel, and I started getting into fashion in the past few years and am learning so much about it. I'm drawn to fashion as I believe it is an art form that not only allows individuals to express themselves but also creates a history and record of different time periods and generations. I've had a lot of fun learning how to put together outfits and use different styles to tell a story through the way I dress. I started this channel to share what I learn along my fashion journey and hopefully help others learn and find their style as well.

I post videos at least every other week, mostly regarding fashion but may include a few beauty/makeup and lifestyle related videos as well. If you're interested in this content, please give my channel a shot and subscribe!

I’m so glad there’s a name for this style. I’ve always had this style in my head, but have never been able to execute myself due to sharing a space with my spouse and kids. Hopefully one day I can.

I have liked this aesthetic since the '90s. For years, I've been called a Goth with a hippie streak. I still have my original '90s celestial stuff. I like that there's now a word for this aesthetic because it means there's now terms I can search for and as maximalist decor is popular in general right now, finding velvet is so easy! I'm more Goth than whimsy, but I like how luxurious and witchy this is for decor, and my study has been decorated like this slowly over the past 8-ish years :) I'm currently making a beaded curtain with glass beads from old necklaces. Slowly collecting things is entirely how I've decorated my home, and it means I've got all the mementos visible to me
  • I love decorating my apartment this way. I’m lucky that before it’s current popularity, I already decorated this way. It helped me avoid the prices being higher now. Thrifting, antique malls, and yard sales at older peoples’ houses really helps. Estate sales are great too but rare here. Another thing that might help is learning the names for the things you like and not using words like “whimsigoth” or “celestial” to make sure you’re getting a lower price.

I already got a minimalistic room but some nature and star vibe items. I wish i could make a bigger room makeover bc my furniture dont match the vibe at all :(

"Whimsigoth"? This is the cute name it is give now? This has been around forever, going way back before the 90's. Used to get these items from thrift shops, antique stores, hand-made, world travels (it you were lucky enough), garage sales, etc. Now it is manufactured at Target and other chain stores. Of course. BTW: this is nothing against you, just a little info.

    I'm a man...so I'm a little nervous to decorate like this. What's your advice? 😐
