Larry Hogan, who easily cruised to victory in the Republican primary. CBS News congressional correspondent Scott MacFarlane breaks down what it means for the Senate's future.

Larry Hogan's potential to flip Maryland's Senate seat red depends on various factors such as his popularity, the political landscape, and the strength of his campaign. While it's possible for Hogan to mount a competitive bid given his moderate Republican stance and popularity in Maryland, winning a Senate seat in a traditionally blue state like Maryland would still be challenging.

NO WAY. WE DON'T NEED ANOTHER TRUMPER IN MD. He can say he doesn't support Trump, but that song has been sung by many in the GOP. I'm saddened by the defeat of David Trone, but I'll vote for a relatively unknown over Larry Hogan. Don't give Trump a foothold in Maryland.. We deserve better.

Hogan was a big critic, of Trump. I really don't believe that he's gonna go along with the rest of them. He's under Ronald Reagan. I really believe that.maybe thats what they need..i might be wrong but i believe he'll try to do right thing and get the party back on track without Trump

Wow, Maryland has gotten desperate... any conservative will do?! Maryland will probably stay blue forever, sorry to say... but I can't imagine it changing (& I lived there 20 years).

Larry Hogan's father would not approve of the current Republicans running anything and neither his Son affiliated with this current set

Larry Hogan was a really good governor and is a really good person, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he did. Very inspiring story for Angela Alsobrooks though given she won in an upset in the Democratic primary.

Larry is too partisan we need people in office who know how to work together no matter the politics.
