This reminded me of a story from a podcast I heard once about someone who had a fetish for their prized stamp collection being burned to ashes. But the wife/girlfriend's reaction at the end makes me think that she never got the reciprocation she so desired in the first place...

I wish you had the subtitles activated - as a hard of hearing person, I only picked out about ten percent of the dialogue which meant I had only a vague idea what was going on. This is not unique to your film but a common experience for hard of hearing people and obviously subtitles are essential for deaf people.
