  • While Secretariat’s heart was indeed larger than most race horses, his hindquarters were the main source of his power, with a sloped croup that extended the length of his femur. When in full stride, his hind legs were able to reach far under himself, increasing his drive. His ample girth, long back and well-made neck all contributed to his heart-lung efficiency. Fifty years later and still holds all three Triple Crown race records. "WHAT A HORSE"

I got to "meet" Secretariat as a guest on the farm. I approached him from the other side of the fence. He met me at the fence, raised his nose in the air and shifted his weight over his front legs as if to say "You are welcome to admire me. You may not touch me." It was 35 years ago and I will never forget that moment .

He gave us one of the most unforgettable moments in life. Love him.

I was 10 years old watching my mother jump up and down like a little girl screaming “Go baby, Go”…she shrieked and laughed and yelled her entire spirit into that horse. Will never forget that. I tear up even now thinking about it. More than a horse…Secretariat was some kind of soulmate.
  • He was not only the greatest horse, the perfect horse, but he gave us joy at a time when we most needed it. Nobody will ever beat him. He is truly a gift from God.
  • I am so thankful that I lived to see Secretariat win all three races as a young adult.❤️❤️❤️
  • That giant heart is amazing, but the rest of the horse has to be able to handle the output and oxygenate the blood and take the incredible pounding and exertion of running that fast and that long. The whole horse was a miracle.
  • I met him in 1982. Everything everyone says about him is true. He was all that.

An older woman in one of my writers groups told us of the day she saw that race at a bar in California. She said everyone was kind of down and not really watching at first but by the time he started to pull away and away and away everyone was on their feet cheering. Hearts lifted whether they gave a damn about the race or not because the new they were watching something Magnificent.

Proud to say that my aunt owned one of Secretariat's grandson's. A little piece of history in our family

I always assumed Secretariat lived in a stall. Seeing that he spent most of his days in a pasture makes me feel a lot better about his racing career.

My heart was broken when Secretariat died! It was like I grew up with him. Yes, a legend!
  • @mpetersen6
Any one who watched Secretariat's Triple Crown races knew he had heart. And what a heart he had.
  • @knightstour61
I was 12, I cried thru all three races. My bedroom was wall to wall Secretariats' posters. I bought Triple Crown ingots, all the magazines and I still cry thru the races 'til today. And I own 100 horses, different breeds, most Quarter horses. Secretariat was in the Man O War genes, we never know if another horses like Big Red comes around and take are breath away!
  • @platedlizard
Belmont was when we realized his jockey was actually holding him back on the other races. It was his last race and they wanted to show everyone what this horse was capable of. Absolutely amazing
  • I never get tired of watching the triple crown of Secretariat. A great athlete.
  • @sandy89107
Who else cries through the whole movie? Especially the real horse videos at the end. 😂❤
  • @ViperJon
I wish I had a nickel for the countless times I've watched this special animal at the Belmont and I tear up every damn time. Every time.
