Remember back then when everyone said The Lord Of The Rings was un-adaptable???
-
Man... oct 2021. Still hurts to think about.
-
If you can adapt Lord of the Rings you can adapt Dune .
-
I like the trailer a lot; it gets the main idea across & hints at darker themes. If they continue to advertise it well, it could really hit.
-
If anyone can successfully adapt the book to the big screen it's Denis Villeneuve.
-
It would be soul crushing to have only 1/2 of the book released as a movie and not the rest.
-
Before any movie hits the big screen, the world needs to get itself back in order.
-
After reading Dune for the first time recently, I've totally fallen in love with it. Everything about this movie seems to be getting the tone and feel of the book correct and that's what I'm most excited for.
-
I personally think Dune can ride the middle way between esoteric and mainstream should the stars properly align ....
-
How about the fact the trailer caused a resurgence in Pink Floyd?
-
Fail or not, it’ll still be very memorable
-
I think even if this film doesn't make it 's budget back it will be favored come awards season.
-
I have to say, I'm a little disappointed to see them wasting their moisture in all of the clips. It's not theirs to waste.

"I must not fear, Fear is the mind killer"
-
I didn’t have a problem with voiced character’s thoughts in Lynch’s version, because the same technique was used in the book, expressed unusually in italics. For me, this technique added to the sense of high intrigue that makes Dune stand out in Sci-Fi.

THE SPICE MUST FLOW! Let's make this a billion dollar success!
-
Every movie with a 100m+ budget is in serious danger of flopping from now on. More than half the movie theaters in the US are about to go away for good
-
Actually Dune should have been made into an HBO series, rather than a movie series. It is just too large, you'll need many many sequels to adequately cover the books. A series of the calibre of Game of Thrones can do that. ...but then again... Warner is HBO's "business daddy" (as John Oliver always puts it so eloquently). So the movie could act as pilot. Using a movie budget to design develop set pieces, costumes, makeup, CGI, etc. is actually quite a good idea. A series could use the existing resources to drastically reduce production cost, while keeping the level of quality high.

Man I hope I'm still alive this time next year

I'm glad they pushed this movie back not just a few months but an entire year. The surest way to make a hype die down is keep releasing trailers and clips until people lose interest (the ones that aren't fans from the get-go). An October release also means the studio feels they have a potential awards winner on their hands, that they don't want to waste with a spring release.
