Ah yes. Gomora was the first Kaiju who fought and defeat the original Ultraman. He was so popular that he starred in his own series called "Ultra Galaxy: Mega Monster Battle" and it follow up, "Ultra Galaxy: Mega Monster Battle - Never Ending Odyssey" plus a movie called "Ultra Galaxy Legend".

My first intro to Gomora was as a child seeing a neighbor kid playing with the large (over 1 foot tall) action figure outside in his front lawn. We quickly became friends. Me and several asian friends were into japanese monsters as kids. None of us ever called them kaiju. Many of those action figures we had are worth a lot of money now.

I remember running home from the bus stop after school to watch the original Ultraman (Yes, I’m old). I had forgotten this phase of my childhood until your vid popped up on my feed. The scene of Gomora shaking the stub of his tail brought back a flood of fond memories. I have never seen any of the subsequent spinoff series and to be honest, the original hasn’t aged well over these many years but I will always cherish those days.

Pretty cool video. While Baltan and Zetton are probably a bit more popular and showed up in a lot of stuff, I don't think it has been as many as Gomora. Personally I have always loved the kaiju and think he hits that right spot of Godzilla nostalgia...without being a "ripoff". Can't wait for the next Galaxy show to start airing and bring him back. Should be some good stuff.

Great video! Gomora has always been one of my favorite Ultra Kaiju, his design is quite straightforward compared to a lot of the more bizarre monsters that show up throughout the franchise but I think that helps him stand out a bit. I'm also always partial to dinosaur type monsters so that's a big plus in his favor as well.

Damn this was a nostalgia trip, remember watching Ultraman and Ultra Galaxy episodes on youtube when I was a kid, always loved how savage Gomora's fighting style was. When most kaiju fans think of the top 3 of the genre, its usually Godzilla, King Kong, and Gamera but I have always personally had Gomora taking the fourth spot when it comes to the kaiju greats.

What gets me is, like the UK's different Marionation series, this was around during my childhood and yet I had no clue about it until the last few years, thanks to YouTube. I'm positive I'd habe loved these. I loved Godzilla, superheroes an the Shogun Warriors comic; a perfect combo.
