So for our decades series last year we traveled back through time until the 1960s - so I decided to go back another decade and put together an entire look based on the fashion, hair and makeup trends of the 50s! What do you think of the finished look?

A big thank you to Kayley Melissa and Gabriela Hernandez for helping us out with our midcentury makeover!

HELLO FRIENDS! sorry for the delay - i got lost in a pile of history textbooks! i hope you guys enjoy the very belated addition to the decade fashion series! xoxo, saf
  • I love that saf doesn’t just go in with whatever she wants. She actually does research and shows respect to the culture at that time

This was wonderful. I was born in the mid-50's. My mother was in her mid-20s then. I remember her in the late-50's "putting herself together" before my father came home. I remember the smell of the pancake makeup, being yelled at to be quiet while she tried to draw on her eyebrows and eye-liner. Careful choice of the dress and matching shoes. If they were going out, she always had her gloves and scarf. She finished it all off with "Lily of the Valley" cologne and her rhinestones. I thought she was magnificent. Thanks for the memories. Mom passed away a decade ago, but my favorite picture of her is a small portrait of her in 1950's high style. All done up like you in this video, but with her rhinestones and a little Mona Lisa smile.

People in the 50s knew the importance of pockets on dresses

I feel like safiya would be the coolest history teacher ever dressing in outfits that corresponds to what they are learning about like wow
  • @kwanton5505
I really need Safiya to run into a store and yell “WHAT YEAR IS IT?!” when in one of these decades get-up XD

I see all those people saying in the coments: I wish the 50s style would come back so I could wear those pretty dresses or formal wear. You don't have to wait for these trends to come back! Dress the way you want. I dress in 1950s vintage everyday, trust me, dressing the way you want bursts you with confidence.
  • I feel like this look suited your figure and face shape the best out of all the other decade looks you've done...anyone else agree?
  • My grandma even though it’s 2020, She’s still staying with her 50s style and even spends a LOT of money just to get her favourite style. Its honestly amazing and I’ve started to get it from her now. XD
  • My school has a dance every year and the theme this year is the 50s and my first thought is to watch this video 😂

Gonna say it. 1950´s dressed are cute as heck and should make a comeback.
  • Can’t wait for “I got a Victorian makeover” I feel like that would be Safs natural aesthetic with the dark colors/mourning vibes
  • @Luvcook
I love how classically beautiful she is, yet unapologetically herself. I love it. Also you must have felt so cute at Disney!! One of these days, I will go to Dapper Days. Oh the fun that could be had.

I saw these teenagers blasting musing, laughing, and dressing like 50s teenagers. I asked them if I can join and now I AM the 50s.
  • I hope she does this all the way to the 1700s and walks around wearing a powdered wig yelling “THE BRITISH ARE COMING” 😂
  • Why is no one mentioning how AMAZING the hairstylist did?? I maybe just trying to show support, one hairstylist to another.
