The new Mini Countryman is bigger, bolder, and better than ever!

Having arrived in Australia with the Countryman C, Countryman S and Countryman JCW petrol models touching down first, and the fully electric Mini Countryman E grades here by the end of 2024, there's a heap of choices for buyers.

In fact, that's the big thing about the new Countryman, which is all about customisation and configuration, with what seems like thousands of choices for customers in terms of variants, trims, colours and options.

The one tested here is the 2024 Mini Countryman S in Favoured trim, which looks amazing if you ask me. It's also practical, thoughtful, clever, comfortable, annnnnnnd a bit expensive.

But watch the review and tell me your thoughts on the range in the comments!

I’m sick of people saying it’s not a Mini or looks like a mini! First, this the name . Second, when the original Countryman came out some folks said it didn’t look like a Mini. I love the Minis! All versions. I have a 2020 Countryman and am trading it in for the new 2025 model coming out. The changes made are awesome in my opinion.
  • I have test driven "Countryman C" a day before this was published. The ride was quite good than I expected. But the missing instrument cluster (speedometer, etc) is little strange to be honest. Anyway is it quite spacious and felt good to be inside. And the steering wheel is small compared to others and the indicator controller is located in the left hand side. Therefore I put the wipers few times when I wanted to turn the vehicle. Further the 360 camera and all sorts of sensors is quite helpful, but I haven't had much time to explore the OLED center console. Except for the critics I don't feel bad about this vehicle. Not too sure about the services and costs.
  • Love this car, and it was on my purchase list to look at, but no spare tyre is a deal breaker for me, especially with interstate travel being part of my needs. Big miss for the brand not understanding the Australian market needs ☹️

The BMW mini is an interesting car, seems to drive well and is certainly more comfy than the original Mini (which I loved). I’m unsure about the screen, would have to see it directly to know if I like or don’t like it. An excellent review, thanks!

Awesome video! What's your take on the dashboard material? Can it be easily cleaned or maintained ?
  • Millions of negative comments about MINI!! Mini should start seriously thinking about it and the Kia friend

I test drove this car at Mini Garage here in Brissie. For peace of mind, I have test drove this with the better half and a 4 year old. We did thoroughly check out the back seats, the comfort, the performance and the design. Yes, there is not instrument cluster but the heads up display is quite good. I am 6.2 and this car seemed pretty good in the second row too. We have also checked with interior detailers about the maintainability of the interiors and they said the interior is not real fabric and its all knitted. So a damp micro fiber cloth should be enough. Rearview mirror - not great Digital cluster - May need some getting used to. Its bit laggy but i think BMW has the same MINI os and its crap there too. May be an OS update Comfort - great Boot - pram and shopping bags! ride - Little bit firm but not neck breaking Steering - not a go kart anymore. Thats for a good reason. Light steering feel seats- excellent. Queenslanders - No ventilated seats for our humid climate ! panoramic sunroof is soo good. For my height, I still have like 5-10 cms space above my head. We finally ordered the S All 4 Favoured as Brissie roads are not that great and often there's slippery roads and hence we've opted that. For our situation this is a second car we have a workhorse in the name of cx-9 that does all the heavy lifting. We used motorscout to get good deals. Free and no fuss.

I love mini, having owed a 2016 F55 Cooper. But they are in fact an expensive toy for a niche market. You basically have to love their quirkiness to want one.

40/20/40 rear split, be great if more brands offered this....
  • @fairgo4156
Good looking SUV and practical while still being compact outside. I wish it ran a torque converter auto rather than a dual clutch, also BMW group's reliability and longevity has been patchy over the last 15 years... I hope this one is better.

@therightcar. Nice timing. I’m considering this or the Lexus LBX. Your thoughts?
  • @raysalter6456
No spare wheel, that would be a problem for me😮😮🤔🤔 but I like minis
  • @Pyjamarama11
In guessing Mini never envisaged an owner ever wanting to get their hands into the engine bay to do any maintenance 😂
  • @buncha5651
What's that bloody horrible round thing in the middle of the dash ? EEEK.😊
