Damn, Nolan bro. The fact your pops is working with you on this project is f'n awesome man. I'm probably 15 years or more older than you (46), but my story is similar. My dad is the guy that got me into cars. Big time. He had a 55 Caddy we tricked out for the strip. I was there as a toddler, 3-4 Yo watching my dad race on the drags back in the 80s here in AZ....He passed several years ago.. He took me to my first Formula 1 race when i was 10 yo! He was too old by the time i started making enough to get multiple rides and tune/mod them at my shop.. we have always been huuuge Ferrari fans. I got my first Ferrari Last year. I would give anything to be able to have dad around now to let him drive it!!! Dad used to annoy me sometimes, but maaaan.... Cherish this time with your pops Nolan.

This was the craziest 4 year episode of "If they can fix it" Donut's done yet.

Seeing Nolan with his dad was so wholesome

Nolan is like one 2am eBay session from LS swapping this bad boy

This video seriously made me tear up. My dad got me a 1954 Chevy wagon that we were going to restore but then someone stole the damn thing. But seeing Nolan working with his dad to take the car apart and then watching Shop Daddy step in when his dad had to go back was so heartwarming. But the look on Nolan’s face when the car fired up was the absolute best. Proud of you Nolan.

Nolan, thanks man glad to see it getting some love. I'm sitting here wiping tears as I watched you work with your dad. Mine got me intocars the same way, like you I made a career out of it. My dad is on hospice as I type and we were supposed to take my current project to a show this Sunday together that unfortunately isn't happening. Let me just say, when you get it up to Dads place take him for a ride and remember it well friend. 🍻
  • @JamesonCox.
I like seeing these fixer-upper videos starring mainly one host. Yall should do more!
  • Nolan is a super relatable, wholesome dude. When he doesn't know something or is unsure, he lets you know. He doesn't try to play everything cool. When something is exciting, he shows it. Good job, dude.
  • 11:20 As soon as I saw that bar I said to myself: "I would do a pullup on that" and then Adam does it. What a champ

My dad passed away in Oct. '23 and this video makes me wish I had listened to him so much more. He wasn't a huge car guy, but he was a huge ham radio guy and medium car guy and as a fairly avid PC user/gamer and car guy there is so much more overlap there than I ever realized back when I was still growing up. It's an odd, bittersweet feeling, not bad but also not good in the euphoric way, it's just a feeling without a name that I know of. I love and appreciate this, thank you Donut Media and Nolan especially, you've brought so much relatability (not a word, should be) to this channel and I'm a lifelong subscriber to your stuff, now I need to catch up on the Past Gas podcast!

One thing I really love about this video is the fact that even though they are restoring a very old car with NEW parts, they did not clean everything, there are still parts of the car that are dirty, parts that are rusty, the engine bay could've been repainted, but they didn't. A much more realistic kind of video for most of us that would have a project like this, rather than videos that in 30 minutes convert a '54 to look like its a 2024 model. I know Donut probably has a decent budget and an endless amount of connections and sponsors for these kinds of things, but it does make me feel like it's still a bunch of guys just doing what they can to make the car run.
  • @pachpachpachi
I love how they "oh, that's heavy" and then immediately called Justin 😂
  • @nbrowser
Seeing that smile on Nolan's face during the drive...that says it all folks, that's honest happiness.
  • @fitshamer
Nolan, I've followed this channel long enough to know how much fixing this car means to you. I'm glad you finally overcame this project. It took a village of Donut guys, and your Dad, so there is no way you ever could have accomplished on your own which is probably why you were procrastinating. Glad to see it all come together. I wanna see whats next for your projects, and I wanna see your Dad's reaction to the finished projects!
  • As a heavy truck mechanic, anytime I drop a transmission and go through all the trouble I check the rear main seal. If there is any sign that it might start leaking I replace it cuz it's a cheap and quick preventive meassure once all that work has been done. Good job Nollan, that car is gonna be sick
  • @KamiCrit
Huge W for getting Dad out to LA! Then saved the day, REMOTE! I liked how the camera quality improved as the episode progressed.

15:05 that shot is so F’KN cool. I love it. Even Nolan’s foot stepping away F’KN FIRE 🔥
