Street Running Trains During LIGHT UP LAGRANGE! Police Keep People Out Of Way Of 3 Trains Running Down The Middle Of Main Street! Train With 8 Locomotives & Over 2 Miles Long! These CSX Street Runner Trains Are In LaGrange, Kentucky. Includes Parade With Santa Claus On Fire Truck.
The police were busy keeping people out of the way of the trains. This is a no train horn zone so they tend to sneak up on people who aren't paying attention. One train did have to blow the horn a few times to alert people. For the most part everyone knows to stay out of the way of the trains. A couple of kids walked in front of the first train and some people walked across in front of the second train. This year the police put up barriers after the first train passed. This is the CSX Short Line or LCL Line. The line runs from Louisville, Kentucky to Cincinnati Queensgate Yard.
I got here early in the day. The first train showed up at 3:27pm which was close to 9 hours since the last train came through. This was a huge intermodal train with a DPU mid train. Notice the children walk across in front of the approaching train. You can hear the police yell at them. This train was a northbound and it was taking the siding in the LaGrange Yard for a southbound manifest to pass.
The second train is the train of the day! This train was just 20 minutes after the first train. It had 6 locomotives on the front and 2 more in the middle. This train was over two miles long! Notice one of the locomotives was a slug. That was pretty cool. I have seen that slug pass over this line but the last time I saw a slug was in Illinois when Hobo Shoestring was showing me some places to film.
The third train showed up at 5:20pm running southbound. The clock next to the track is always accurate, however, it was shut off at 5pm along with the street lights. I didn't realise that the clock was off so I thought it was 5pm. Lol. The train was a long auto racks train. It only needed two locomotives on the front since the train was empty.
The parade started shortly after the last train passed. This video shows the entire parade with Santa Claus riding on the rear of the last fire truck. We also see the line of people waiting to see Santa and we see a lucky little boy getting to meet him. There are other random scenes in the video such as the courthouse under construction, a passenger car and caboose display and the inside of the two rail cars. Don't forget the slide show and a short clip of the Live Action Pets!

Filmed Saturday, December 2, 2023 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

1st train 04:55 - 1 Engine - DPU 08:00 - 64 Cars 2nd Train 13:45 - 5 Engines - 1 SLUG* (CSX 1053) - DPU 20:30 - 173 Cars 3rd Train 27:00 - 2 Engines - 95 Cars *A SLUG is a locomotive that has no prime mover (diesel engine), and is thus incapable of generating power on its own, but still has electric traction motors in its wheels. Their purpose serves as an extra set of powered wheels for when a unit with motive power needs extra traction without the added fuel consumption of an additional engine turning.

Being a Brit, I love the awesome hugeness of US trains. They make ours look like toys!
  • @stevenpitts6665
Live action! Kids getting told off by the police, folk wandering around. I love it. This video will be a historical document in years to come. Preserving everyday life. Personally JT, I wouldn’t change a thing on how you film, what you film and where you film. On a wet, dark December evening, this is perfect entertainment for me. My wife will put something on the TV and be asleep in less than 5 minutes so it’s headphones on and volume up!

Your willingness to put in long hours to get the best shots is a big part of why you're the top banana of train video channels. That, and your personality. Five stars.
  • Just an absolutely awesome video! Trains, lots of families enjoying the festivities, and the big win for everyone of Santa and Mrs. Claus!!!!! Well done!!!
  • @talldude5841
Great show JT. I love this main street train in a historic small Kentucky town with the Xmas trees and people watching. Train watching don't get much better than this. Epic.

So that is what the road looks like, now I understand why so many drivers end up driving their auto/truck onto the track.
  • jaw tooth captures more than just the trains, he captures the process of waiting for them and the area that he is in

Mr. Tooth, this live action video knocked it out of the park! Made me think of all the times I came near places where you bring us great video that I passed driving back and forth from Pittsburgh to Nashville but I never knew! Longest train I have ever seen. Multiple DPU's! Also a great tribute to first responders who selflessly help strangers and save lives with not enough credit. I imagine also nice to have an interval of peace and quiet on your farm with the big live action just Loki and Chessie. Thank you!
  • @janetmillsrice
THANK YOU! this has been the best thing i have seen in a long time. normal people with normal children in a normal town having a good time. unlike so many other places we are shown.
  • @garyhardwick8489
Long trains through the middle of a town would be unheard of here in the UK, if they did the public wouldn't move for them and wouldn't take a lot of notice of the police either! Great to see the parade, all the emergency services helping out and the happy people enjoying themselves. Merry Christmas! (Or Happy Holidays as you say in the US of A!)
  • @train1962
That second train was quite impressive.Looks to me like a bit of a power move.
  • @garymiller5937
That was a long, sweet mixed freight. I loved all the power leading and the two DPUs! I think this is the first CSX slug I've ever seen so that's cool. I counted 172 cars. I believe that's the correct count. Great catch JT!! 😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
  • @jesseb619
Thanks brother, stay safe, greetings from New Zealand!!
  • @garymoore4909
As someone living in the UK that has given me a whole new insight in just how massive the USA really is! For such an enormous freight train to just pass effortlessly through a main street of Kentucky like that! Wow! What a sight!
  • Very enjoyable. So happy you filmed Santa's arrival! What a great community!
  • @tomy.1846
Gotta say that I really Ioved the intro! It's great how you explain the area you are visiting and show the surrounding views. Makes us feel like we are there with you! Enjoy the holiday season and keep up the outstanding work!
