Those "internet sleuths" are doing the investigative journalism that YOU should be doing.
  • @lisamay4376
They should also expose the jobs their family members get, or other benefits they get, from people who donate to their campaigns.

Solution... 1) Implement Term Limits 2) No stock trading while in Congress

"trading stocks shouldn't be banned because doing so would cut off a financial source that some politicians use to make ends meet." The annual salary of a US congressman is $174,000 and they get a very generous pension. If they can't make ends meet with that, they should immediately be removed from office because they clearly are wildly out of touch with the reality all the people they supposedly represent have to live in.

This is real journalism. This should be the main story on every news outlet...sad

Spouse trading is huge! A friend that works at state level told me. Spouses file taxes separately and not required to divulge when their politician spouse surrenders theirs.

Imagine a person in a position of power that got there simply because they wanted to help others and doesn't abuse the power they hold... Wouldn't that be something 😢

there SHOULD be LAWS against Politicians owning STOCK - CHOOSE - PUBLIC SERVANT or STOCK TRADER - but NOT BOTH - conflict of interest they GET PAID ENOUGH ALREADY -
  • @Scarter63
Politicians should be able to buy mutual funds, but not individual stocks.

What i find ridiculous is i work at walgreens and if i get some kind of inside scoop on the stock and i trade it i could end up in jail while a congressman or senator can do the exact same thing and all they get is like a 100 dollar fine. Abesoultely ridiculous.
  • @gordon-1
The Stock Act was passed because Congress originally exempted themselves from insider trader laws.
  • @appnzllr
Politicians should not be able to trade stock. It's not just knowledge before thing happen. It's also possible for them to manipulate events. Family members also.
  • @DashRiprock513
I saw this coming miles away... Back when they decided bribery and insider trading was ok for them.
  • @jamdoodles
The punishment for violating the so-called stock act is a fine of one hundred dollars. The law is an insult to the American people.

Never in my life did I think I would see matt gaetz and aoc co-sponsor a bill lol

One of the most active traders is Republican Congressman Mike McCaul. He trades a lot under his name, his wife's name and children names. Being a congress person pays off in a lot of ways. Stock trades, bribes, "gifts", etc. Isn't that right Sen. Menendez?

Thats like a police officer also being the judge and the prison board president.
