When the first Orbital platform was built, I was 12.

I remember lying on the emerald June grass, peering into the sea of ​​clouds with an inexplicable desire to catch a glimpse of Zarya-I. I knew it was geostationary and that this would not happen in my hemisphere.

What I didn't know was that a decade later, I would be an engineer in a factory assembling new platforms. Freshly built modules were loaded onto reusable rockets and disappeared into the silent blue to become something greater than the simple sum of their parts.

On the best days, there were launches every few hours, and I didn't miss a single one.

Wind howling furiously in my ears, azure depth of the sky covers everything where the eye falls, steam of coolants slowly covers the launch pad and flows down into the clouds on which, it seemed, the factory stood. Time felt slower in these moments.

Ironically, I never decided to leave Earth.

Assembling Factory 6 was decommissioned long ago. Sometimes, I visit the half-forgotten site to peer into the cloudy horizons and pause the flow of time.

Just for a few moments.
