I play 3 games. Call of duty, madden, and NBA2k. And I have a Xbox series S 😞😞😞 I can only download 2 out of 3 games. This is dumb. I'm starting to dislike Microsoft for this.

Thank you for this, it makes understanding this whole storage balancing thing a bit better. I mainly play 360 or Xbox one games so the trick of looking at the info and stuff and knowing where I should download it is helpful.

Here's the list of Xbox 23 Series X/S Enhanced games that I found would still run from an external (USB) drive in 2022. If you find others please comment and let me know. Ark Survival Evolved Assassins Creed Origins Conan Exiles Descenders The Division 2 DJMax Respect/V The Elder Scrolls Skyrim For Honor The Good Life Loot River Mass Effect: Legendary Edition Minecraft Dungeons Ori and the Will of the Wisps Sea of Thieves Shadow of the Tomb Raider (Thanks to Indigo Montoya for this one) Sniper Elite 4 Star Wars: Squadrons State of Decay 2 Stelaris Visage Warhammer: Vermintide 2 We Happy Few Zombie Army Dead War

I have a Samsung t7, and series x/s games work on it. Only certain games of course. AC odyssey & Orgins works with quick resume functions as well. Skyrim works, master chief collection works. And a few others as well. I was shocked that they all were optimized and quick resume worked for those games listed all being saved on my Samsung T7 ssd

Guys, does xbox recognize Xbox X/S compatibile games, and save them in console storage unit, or Do I have to transfer the games every single time?
-
This video is great! I just got my series X recently and with only 1tb of internal memory every little bit counts. Most of my game library are older games that can go on my usb drive anyway, but I have a couple of the gen9aware games that I would rather keep on external. Thanks for this video!
-
I got my series S for $280. I personally can’t justify $220 for a 1TB drive when I got like a $30 1TB external drive. I’ll just transfer games even with a 10-20 minute wait.
-
It seems to me that whether or not someone can play optimized for Series X/S games is convoluted because it depends on whether or not the file type is Gen9Aware or not. The forward compatibility of your typical external hard drive that is 1 terabyte or more is, therefore, not absolute. I find this to be problematic because if I install a Gen9Aware game on my Seagate Game Drive, I will likely not inherit any of the game's upgrades unless it is installed directly on the console.

so what hard drive do i need to be able to have games on it and still be playable? is that possible?
-
Okay so I’m confused. I have a 4tb sea gate drive and some people are telling me I can play next gen games off these specific drives, but others tell me I can only play these certain games. Can somebody help me out?
-
I've got a seagate 1tb hard drive but most games still don't work on there
-
Thanks. My question is if I’ll buy external SSD Seagate (not the card) will I able to run S/X games from it? Just because there’s cards hard to come buy and dang expensive. I rather save up on PlayStation then buying that card just for the memory…. Thanks I’m advance. Have a nice day.

I've downloaded Far Cry 5 onto my 2tb game drive and it's Xbox series X/S enhanced and it works
-
i understand where your coming from but changing external usb to default location doesn’t work for me, dead by daylight installer there as my setting default told it to but it wouldn’t run without being internal
-
They upgraded all my fucking Xbox one games that aren’t “new” now I have to do a constant balance of managing my games back in forth between Xbox and hardrive
-
Thanks for this video. It explains a lot. So basically Microsoft's XBSX games require faster storage. It must be a new technology that regular USBs don't yet have. Sounds like they entered into a working agreement with Seagate to develop those faster storage cards. So I'll only install the Gen9 games on there. So that just means I can plug in my external USB drives with my last gen. games into my XBSX and be ready to go once I've installed the game disc, correct??

If I Download a iso file for a 360 game onto a usb Flash drive can I play it on a series x ?
-
I just bought the series s and have a PS5 should have just got the x with the amount of storage 😂

Love how Call of Duty, a heavily online based game requires you to be on either the consoles Internal or their ridiculously expensive external SSD slot. I upgraded recently from a WD HDD to a SanDisk external SSD to be greeted to this nonsense. Speeds on the SSD definitely suffice. Anyone know of any work arounds for the online play?
