James Clapper actually pretty level-headed and insightful. The only issue with what he said was that he didn't mention the Israeli attack on the embassy at the beginning of this month. This attack didn't happen out of the blue.

The significance of Israel's attack on a diplomatic facility in Damascus should not be discounted. It crossed a line forcing a response. Iran told the US the drones were going to be sent allowing them to be shot down. It was a message, not a determined attack.

It's shocking that the fact that Israel had attacked an Iranian consulate building in Damascus only days before this retaliation is not mentioned. Yet another example of the extreme one sided reporting in US main stream media. I suggest everyone to check out Al Jazeera or any number of non US media outlets for more balance and nuance in reporting on this conflict.
