Lesson on Yellow Fever: Causes, Pathogenesis, Stages of Infection, Symptoms, Diagnosis and Management. Yellow Fever is a hemorrhagic fever due to an infection with a virus of the Flaviviridae family. This type of virus is transmitted by certain mosquito species, dependent on geographic location. During infection, a certain set of stages occurs, with very significant and debilitating symptoms occurring in the last stage of infection. Diagnosis of Yellow fever occurs through laboratory investigations and management of Yellow Fever is a difficult process that is often done in an intensive care setting.
