Fifty-eight-year-old Pauline is such a big fan of Christmas that her vast collection of decorations is bringing down a bedroom ceiling, and her house is so full of clutter that a family gathering on December 25 is usually out of the question. However, she is now determined to celebrate Christmas with her young grandchildren in her own home, and helping to make this happen is psychotherapist Stelios Kiosses, with assistance from straight-talking de-clutterers Zoe Steel and Allyson Pritchard. Plus, antiques dealer Greg, whose numerous `repair' projects are taking over girlfriend Judith's house.

I'm very impressed by this series--the part where Stelios says: "I'm less concerned about the stuff and more concerned about the way it makes you feel"??? THATS something you wouldn't see on TLC in a million years. It feels like most of those shows are only made to put the people on display like they're circus freaks. This show feels a lot more humanizing, and I can tell that they're actually getting help.
  • Ugh. Greg’s condescending attitude: “I’m the antique dealer, you’re the helper.” Nope. You’re a hoarder who can’t sell a thing, and she’s a professional working to help you address your hoard. Dealers sell their stuff, and helpers can only help if you take their advice.

"I did all this for YOU because I realized you were getting a LITTLE bit stressed over it. I think i PROBABLY pushed it a LITTLE too much" Good ole Greg....classic manipulator. He's a selfish one, that one!
  • @emfc1
Dude needs to get his OWN house and fill it how he likes... Kinda selfish to be forcing his habits on his GF in HER home. Poor woman!

Stelios is such an awesome guy. In a perfect world, every healthcare worker would behave in such a manner.

I grew up in a horder house. Something would get buried so it was always easier to buy it again. Nevet again. I grew up and became a minimalist
  • She should make him rent a shop and move all his stuff to it. Then he will see that he has to sell things in order to keep his shop running. And then he would be an actual "antiques dealer".
  • My father had something similar to her because of not having enough food as a child, but he was not a hoarder, he used to buy food for two families when he went to the supermarket. People don't realize how the lack of food affects children. :(
  • That so-called antiques dealer is a flaming misogynist. I thought he was so condescending to the women who came to help him and patronizing to his girlfriend, without whom he'd be on the street. They should've thrown HIM in the skip!
  • @annalake4376
The guy that ruined that woman's house, she's an angel to put up with her home being destroyed his arrogance is something else. You're not an antique dealer you're an antique hoarder couldn't even sell a riding crop what a crock of

Pauline’s story about her and her sister surviving on a tin of mushy peas for 2 weeks is heartbreaking. My late mother in law and best friend was born in the 1930’s her family was suffering abject poverty. I am writing a children’s book about her last Christmas with her older sister. They were about 3 and 8 years old. Kathleen the older sister took it upon herself to make sure her little sister got a Christmas present. I’m in tears typing this. Imagine being 8 years old, already knowing Santa isn’t coming, and stealing a walnut out of a basket your teacher received as a gift. Kathleen carefully wrapped that Walnut and gave it to her tiny baby sister Mildred. Mildred never forgot that gift. It was only a few months later that Mildred was given up for adoption. There is so much more to her story, but my heart can’t share it all in this thread.

My mum is a hoarder, although not quite on this level. Around a year ago, my brother & I cleared & organised a load of stuff for her, so we could stay in the house. The amount of verbal abuse we suffered & the level of blame she STILL puts on us about not being able to find something- or basically us not clearing enough- really shocked & scarred me. I had never seen this show before, so was interesting to see people behaving EXACTLY like her.
  • @betterbetty3542
I can’t believe the entitlement Greg has. That’s not even his house to hoard! It’s so incredibly selfish.
  • @amylee3531
Greg actually has some pretty incredible stuff in the hoard. But Greg, you can't call yourself an "antiques dealer" if your never selling anything. Your just..... A shopper.

He 'sees value in everything' except his girlfriend, her feelings and her home in which he lives. I'd have tossed him out years ago when he first started taking over my house with his junk. He is manipulative, egotistical, a bit of a narcissist as well as a hoarder. The 'I did this for you' statement he made seems condescending and disingenuous. Wonder what her home will look like in six months.
  • @da__lang
After seeing Pauline proclaim that she has no problem with eating food ten years or more past its expiration date, I would be afraid to eat anything she serves.
  • @margareth1504
Mother in law had hoarding issues. I was targeted whenever I culled my own things, and my hubby would intervene to direct whatever I had going to the rubbish bin or charity and instead give it to his mother who said she was giving it to charity. When she died, and hubby wanted to bring her left over belongings into our house, I got a shock to end up with all my own stuff again! She d kept those things for herself. Then I had to get rid of them again!
  • It's because of these shows, when I deep clean my house weekly, i see myself throwing out a lot of stuff🤣
  • @devilmecare
Had a boyfriend who tried doing this to me. Had is the operative word.
