After a congressional hearing with more questions than answers, Rep. Jamie Raskin, the highest-ranking Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, joined a bipartisan chorus of lawmakers who called on the head of the U.S. Secret Service to resign.

Secret Service Kimberly Cheatle appeared before a House panel Monday to answer questions about the July 13 attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. Though she cited ongoing investigations into the attack, she frustrated lawmakers on both sides of aisles with the lack of specific answers to their questions.

“I don’t want to add to the director’s terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad day,” Maryland lawmaker said, but he indicated he would be joining the pressure for the director to resign.

“I think that the director has lost the confidence of Congress at a very urgent and tender moment in the history of the country, and we need to move very quickly beyond this,” he said.

Raskin also said there were twin failures: how the assassination attempt was allowed to happen, but also the broader problem of assault weapon attacks that target anywhere the public gathers.
