Lots of alternatives to resin out there - but what can you colour them with? I have good and somewhat surprising news for you! Colouring Eco Pour, Aquacast, Resincrete and all the other powder + water alternatives out there might not be as costly as you think

** Sorry I lost the unmoulding of the chameleon film clip but it was a deeply disappointing plain pale blue **

Pigment paste is mixed with epoxy resin (some use part A, others use part B), and we all know epoxy resin doesn't play well with water or oil products. Great tutorial experiment.
  • They look delicious. They Remind me of the valentine's candies. Just add words on top 😆
  • VERY helpful, Tracey! I can't over the alc ink and food coloring...awesome surprise! A not-so pleasant surprise was the pigment paste. Honestly thought it would work well, but no! Thanks for taking the trouble to do so many experiments! 😊❤
  • @tonibroaddus
Pigment paste isn't water soluble and alcohol ink is color with liquid that evaporates
  • Hi Tracey great video, i was shouting at the screen saying no dont use paste as it epoxy based 😂 great results with the food colouring and paint, thanks for sharing ❤❤❤ xxx
  • This was SO helpful! Thank you for taking the time to do this and share your ideas. It is great to know about acrylic paint, food colouring, and alcohol inks. They look lovely. I received my Aqua cast yesterday, and I'm looking forward to trying out some new colours. The pigments i bought specifically for eco resin were very drab and disappointing. Now, i can use up a load of paints and inks. Your tutorial was much appreciated x ❤
  • Ive used alcho ink, mica, nail varnish, chalk, pigment paste and fluid, oil and acrylic and wood stain! I found if you mixed with the water and add it to the powder especially the pigment paste and fluid worked better, but still gave the stone look, which i liked on the bath 😊

This stuff looks cool. Since I don't have a safe place to work with resin I may get some of this to play with!
  • @bobswihart
I love the experiments too see what works and what does not. It's fun to guess what will happen and then see what actually happens. We have not tried any other materials other than resin. I figured liquid that is soluble in water would work. Thanks for the fun time. 😊
  • @Ali-H3444
I wonder if acrylic paints with glitter in them would work? I have a bunch of those. Thanks for the experiment!❤
  • Thank you for another fun, informative video. 😍 Have you tried putting the chameleon powder on the mold first? I wonder about gold foil on the mold, too?🤔 So happy the alcohol ink and mica powder worked, Ihave a ton of those.🥰
  • @debrajol3585
Nice experiment! I think the resin paste is a fail bc it’s the pigment mixed with the part A of epoxy resin. Seem the pigment would have absorbed the resin (part A) and thus it becomes not water soluble. I remember a while back seeing several videos of Part A being used to make pastes.. I now make my own pastes when I have excess of part A left at the end in the bottles instead of throwing it away. We can make special color mixes (like interference red with purple micas..or any combo imaginable) I have loads of different special colors we can’t buy on the market. Anyway I love your experiment today!!! I don’t work with this medium or jesmonite but it’s always interesting to see & there’s usually a take away for the medium I’m using. Have a lovely day❤❤ see you in the next 🌹
  • Just a thought. Perhaps the Pigments may be mixed with something to make it into a paste that doesn't react well with the water in the eco pour? An oil based liquid perhaps?

Lovely pastel colors in eco pour,Ms Tracey,.Nice experimenting, Ms Tracey😍👌💙 .I love all the colors😍
