Finish Grade is hull 70 in the combined Selene 53/55 series. She is a widebody design, one of the most popular layouts among owner/operators. She was ordered to accomplish what is best for a cruising couple; two staterooms, stabilization, thrusters and even has a separate get home propulsion package. Her current owners have enjoyed and cruised the east coast and Bahamas for the past year and a half, making improvements and fine tuning to keep her fresh. Unfortunately, family issues are calling them back to shore and they are not sure when they can next take off so have made the decision to offer her for sale and let someone else take the helm and go off exploring.
The Selene 55 is surely a head turner in any marina or anchorage. Her stout design and methodic craftsmanship that can be seen in each space aboard make for a highly sought after vessel. Finish Grade offers an incredible value in the long-range cruiser market.

Enjoy this tour aboard and contact Jeff Merrill or John Hoffman to get aboard!

She is a well designed Trawler. Lots of very practical features. The standouts for me are the overall layout of the boat, the size of the lazarette, overhead hatch and sliding windows in the pilot house, Dutch door entry to the salon, sliding drawers in the galley, large space in the cockpit along with three access doors from the dock, the door to close off access to the engine room, midship owners cabin, the craftmanship of the woodwork and the stainless steel railings along the Portuguese bridge. Dare I say that her build quality appears to be up there with a similar size Nordharvn. Her lines certainly do compare well to a Fleming. Thanks for another great video Jeff.
  • Best looking selene that I have seen. Love the woodwork, the choice of wood, and the craftsmanship is fantastic. 👍👍

Another very informative tour Jeff of the Selene 55 I just love explorer type boats such as this one is.

Congratulations!! The boat is very well maintained, very beautiful.

Unlike another comment below, I really like the 2 cabin layout. A boat this size could have handled 3 cabins but you would not end up with a stateroom like Finish Grade has. This boat is amazing in so many ways! I've looked at Selenes for a long time and this one is by far my favorite.

In reference to the number of cabins, if you look at other boat channels doing 55 foot boats, like Princesses and Sunseekers, they are designed to do something very different than Trawlers. Even at 55 foot they are often charter boats, so they are in essence designed to be small hotels, like B & Bs. A 55 foot Trawler is almost always privately owned and operated. It is for a few people to spend a long time on. More like a house or an apartment. This is neither good nor bad, it's just they have different design goals and each does what it was designed to do.
  • Beautiful. Still saving my pennies. So many nice boats between 50 and 60 feet, it’s hard to know what to really consider.

With the greatest respect Jeff, the vernacular you use sometimes sounds like you learned your trade in furniture. E.G. boats don't have salons or cockpits. They have saloons & the area immediately off the saloon is called the Saloon deck. further aft is simply call the After deck. The outboard extension of that is called a landing tray. An area specifically design for navigation only, is called the Bridge. Hence, the Flying bridge. When the Helm is located in a shared space, it simply called the Helm. Often, that area aft of the flying bridge is often referred to as the sundeck. It is not my intention to disrespect you in any way, but us Old salts do wince when someone sounds like they are selling planes. Good luck with the sale. Great review. Beautiful craft.

Beautiful boat, as usual. Just for a change of pace, could you do a review of an ugly boat (priced for us wannabes) that might have potential and what pitfalls to watch out for?
