I find that the movies, books, stories that most capture our hearts and minds, the ones that last the test of time, are the stories that seem to uncover some hidden truth about life, as if the writers have tapped into some collective unconscious understanding of the world. We find ourselves wanting to experience these stories over and over again. Maybe it’s because we are looking for something, seeking for that truth, looking for ways to properly live our own life, as if the story were a guide, leaving a trail of breadcrumbs, clues to the secrets of the universe.
Some stories may uncover truths about human nature, about life, and even about manifesting the world around us. In the movie, Pinocchio, Jiminy Cricket sings, “When you wish upon a star, there’s no difference who you are, Anything your heart desires, will come to you, If your heart is in your dreams, no request is too extreme, when you wish upon a star as dreamers do.
Or When Willy Wonka tells his guests, Close your eyes, make a wish, and count to 3, before singing, “Come with me, and you’ll be in a world of pure imagination, if you want to view paradise, simply look around and view it, anything you want, do it, want to change the world, there’s nothing to it. There is no life I know to compare with pure imagination, living there you’ll be free if you truly wish to be. Or how about when a poor boy living in the slums of Agrabah falls upon a lamp, and when he rubs it, a magical genie appears to grant him three wishes.
These powerful stories of manifestation aren’t just merely in children’s stories either. The story of the genie granting wishes is thousands of years old. And, there is no more popular or more influential book than the Bible itself, where the main themes are of faith and belief. The scripture says it quite clearly, “ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find. Simply with the faith the size of a mustard seed, you will be able to move mountains, and nothing will be impossible to you.”
It seems as if there are these clues all around us, guiding us to some truth we each must discover for ourselves. Whether we choose to follow these clues into an incredible world of discovery and adventure, or if we choose to ignore them as mere fantasy land fairy tales, we do always have a choice.
Those who choose to ignore these clues may lack the courage needed. Because it takes courage.
When we follow our heart, follow our dreams, ask for what we want, wish upon a star, hope for something more, there is always the risk that it will never come to be, knowing that we may feel the pain of a broken heart as our hopes and dreams die. Maybe that is why these stories are so often told to children. They have not yet felt the sting of failure, disappointment, suffering. And maybe they are still willing to listen.
Yet, it is those who choose to seek a better life that are the ones willing to face that risk, that uncertainty, that pain, look into that deep abyss of fear and uncertainty, and keep stepping forward without a hint of hesitation. Because those are the ones who not only understand exactly what they want in life, but know that we are all capable of more than we can ever imagine.
In this meditation, I will guide you on a journey of manifestation, using the techniques that will allow you to manifest anything you ask for. You must understand, you must choose to believe it is possible and have the courage to hope for something more, and I promise you, your dreams will become your reality.
