  • Now I perfectly understand why people want to have a Red Dead Redemption remaster. So that they can throw in Arthur Morgan and have certain characters talk about his influence and his actions as a protagonist.
  • I think the best explanation regarding John’s silence on Arthur is when he reunites with Mary Beth after the end of the game and says that he THINKS about Arthur all the time, but he doesn’t TALK about him very much. Arthur is effectively his brother who’d saved him multiple times but he could never save in return, only avenge 😔
  • I kinda “like” that he’s never mentioned. It makes it more painful, to know that he’s basically “forgotten” by John or that he doesn’t want to relieve those memories cause they’re too strong, makes me miss and love Arthur even more. Makes the legend more hurtful
  • 1:00–When John desperately says to Arthur “We aint got time for this! Not now” was the most sad moment for me in RDR2.
  • i like how Arthur smiles when giving John his hat. it's a really sweet detail that shows how much Arthur likes John, despite their differences.
  • It makes sense to me that John wouldn't like talking about Arthur in RDR1. Those memories would almost certainly be staggeringly painful... But, if they did remake RDR1, I would like to see scenes like these re-voiced. Not rewritten, per se, but retaken to add hesitant pauses and the like to hint at the idea that John is remembering Arthur in conversations like this. I don't want blatant mentions and conversations about him, at least outside of characters that were in the gang during that time. But even then, I don't want full blown conversations about the man. Quick mentions at most, maybe using his memory as a way to jab at John during fights... But Arthur's presence in a RDR1 remake should be subtle, but noticable to the perceptive.
  • when arthur gave john his hat, i couldn't hold in the tears of sadness i started crying uncontrollably
  • What makes this scene even more beautiful is that Arthur and John were raised as brothers and learned how to live together. They spent all that time together and it just makes some of these things so much more beautiful 🥲

I took my sweet time playing RDR2 with Arthur. I started November 2018 and finished January 2022. I did a lot of fishing, traveling, hunting, hanging out at the camp, going back out. Of course I'd switch intermittentenly to other games but I'd always come back to RDR2. That being said, nothing could compare to the emotions I felt when I used Buell, the veterans horse for Arthur's last ride. It was almost a perfect ending. For those who haven't done the side mission yet, do it!

The saddest part for me was the way Dutch looked at Arthur before he died, you can tell in his face that he realized he failed the gang as Arthur is dying
  • John took the "go, don't look back" from arthur very seriously, in fact he even says the same words in the end, he's literaly honoring his friend by not mentioning him which is what arthur would always want to, to see john have a normal life and delete that past life, even if that meant forgetting his best friend.

"While there's guns and money there won't be no peace." I think Arthur's death changed him more than Authur's life ever could.

If you only played RDR2, you really did miss out on an absolutely masterfully told story in RDR1.
  • I think the perfect reason why John barely talks about Arthur in the Epilogue beyond the missions and further into the story of RD1 is largely because of how he handles his grief of what happened to the man that practically became his brother in everything but blood. Sometimes a man's name doesn't need to be evoked to know that his actions still influence those who are still around, and John clearly learned a lot more from Arthur then he lets on, especially when comparing the him to RD2 and RD1, it may not seem that drastic, but Arthur definitely helped influence the maturity and honor that John would embody.

This is the most reallistic thing in the game when someone once had important role to your life, you'll remember them but sooner or later you'll forget them and it will be a past
  • @jarodM6
One of the reasons I kind of hope they don't do a remake and ad moments of them talking about Arthur is because I think it make sense they don't talk about Arthur because for John it would hurt too much to to talk about him and he would rather forget about puff probably everything about his past so we can move on with the future and the characters of Bill and Javier and Dutch they would of blamed Arthur of for the reason the gang broke up so they would hate to bring him up into conversation
  • Id say Arthur is a true iconic legend and anti hero for several reasons but its his final stand at the end of the game where he receives true righteousness respect honor and redemption and Glory for giving his life for another person and for giving john time to get away and with every ounce of his last breath taking as many enemies with him before he goes

This also could be a parallel to when John decided to stay near the end of the game to let his family be able to get out safe.

Indo, bro. In that same mission John Marston mentions that the gang spoke about going there years ago. If you look at Arthur's journal (first pages) you can read about this.
