The Truth About Prayer... A Native American (Navajo) Perspective

Published 2023-03-20
Many times we find out there are people that don't know how to pray. They have never felt the need.

When we talk about prayer in the traditional way... we have to go back to the beginning when the Holy People organized Mother Earth.

The language they used was given to the five-fingered being (Humankind).

But people began to pervert it. And the Holy People took it back.

When they took it back, they left the language to a few people. These people promised to use the language for good.

The Holy People said the new communication between them and the five-fingered being would be done through prayer.

  • I pray every morning to the 4 directions, the east where the red sun rises and for the red brothers and sisters, the south where there is yellow sand and for the yellow brothers and sisters, the west where there is blackness of night and for the black brothers and sisters and to the north were there is white snow and for the white brothers and sisters A'ho

Absolutely beautiful. I have been a follower of YESHUA for over 30 years. The most holy and reverential experience I have had was in a SWEAT LODGE With a Cree and Lakota Chief who honored God with so much reverence and humility I began to weep uncontrollably because they showed me what true repentance and reverence is. I owe those men my heart as they showed me how to be in the presence of loving Holiness... All while sitting in the dark in my underwear while the temperature climbed to above 130+° Fahrenheit. Every bit of me that wanted to escape the heat had to pray and surrender to God and trust that his all consuming fire would burn out of me that Wich no longer served him. And that he would preserve my flesh in that incredible heat. It was a miracle as I let go of my selfishness I could withstand the heat more and more until I felt completely free and cleansed. Thank you God for the Indian Elders to teach me your ways.

Your reverences to the Holy People are truly heart warming, the language is beautiful. As a non-native resident, over 50 years ago I would take my horse up in the hills, rejoice in the peace and beauty that nature (Mother Earth) provided to us on the planet. Your teachings are a gift, thank you!

I may be Christian, but have an immense amount of respect and appreciation for the Navaho teachings. These teachings today brought me to tears. And I’m not one to cry easily. This was beautiful and so meaningful. Thank you 🙏

I wish all of humanity could live like this and understand each other on a higher level. We're so far removed from this way of thought in the modern world, and it really bothers me a great deal. I'm very grateful for this Elder, his people, and his wisdom.❤️‍🔥

  • This is a powerful message. I am convinced that we do not give enough “Thank You’s or Gratitude” through Prayer to the Holy People, Yahweh or the Universe.

  • I am grateful for your existence. You bring me so much comfort. You reiterate many lessons and beliefs I hold dear. Thank you. It's reassuring. I have made the mistake of assuming everyone has been taught Sacred teachings such as this on prayer. I forget so many people haven't been exposed to such an essential teaching in their lives so important to part of our well being. I am grateful to my elders for teaching me the most important lessons for life. I think you and your son are the bees knees. All my Love, Happy Little Lady

I like this man. With his kindness and humble wisdom, he is really a great gift to anyone who will listen to him.
  • We all were born knowing how to pray! When we are startled we say "aaah" When we feel relief we say "Ahhh" When we enjoy our food we say "Mmmm" When we are happy we say "haha" When we understand we say "Oh" and when we recognize all that we have, we are supposed to say "thank you" Maybe these first sounds are the ones that the Holy People hear. My intent is that all of these mean thank you. If noticing those moments you are thankful for just a little more than before... That is a good way to say "thank you"... Notice what you have so you do not reach too far for what you may not want. Life is the only real treasure, and life is the only real paycheck...
  • I watch every single one of your videos because I learn so much and because they make me think and because I feel like they help me to be a better person. This video has made me think about how I use my words, that what I say and how I say it is important, and it's made me think about how words and spirituality are intertwined.
