Drinking with Locals in the Last Favela of Europe

Published 2024-02-19
SE1EP10: Join me in the heart of Cova Da Moura, Europe's last existing favela (slum), as I navigate its winding alleys and immerse myself in the local culture. From chance encounters with colorful characters to an impromptu pub crawl with newfound friends, this episode captures the essence of adventure and humanity I'm trying to portray in this first season of SSBD...

Notice how after 2 shots not only did Joaquim started speaking Spanish but it improves as they keep drinking 😂

Favela is a name that they use in Brazil not in Portugal!! In Portugal we call Bairro

I found your channel on TikTok and I find it hilarious that you’re literally 5 minutes away from my home and I’ve never walked through that hood. At least the people are nice and friendly to show you around. Safe travels mate 👍

I admire your courage for going into that neighborhood, but you seemed more uncomfortable there than you have seemed in any other video.

So glad I found your channel, being from Portugal and I was born in Lisbon it’s nice to see these encounters in the not so popular parts of the city!
  • @sarivanul
That guy Joaquin was really nice. Hello from Romania

The most dangerous thing you did was saying Super Bock is better than Sagres 😂. Great video buddy

Being Portuguese and having spent a lot of my teenage years in 6 de Maio, Reboleira, Cova da Moura and these places, it's awesome that you show how genuine, friendly, welcoming and great our communities can be despite the ill-fame - it's only dangerous to those who disrespect the place, the locals or their livelihood! And living in Bulgaria now, I can say all the grogue I've drunk definitely helped me withstand the rakia 😂 Благодаря e bai ku Dios na bu viagi!

LOL THE WEATHER! If I had that many shots, I'd be able to speak French fluently 😂😂 Really loved this episode!!

  • @blazeit1010
at 13:20 he was saying his name is "Joca" , not Joker, thats why he was like "im not crazy...." 😅

Man it's really cool the attitude you have of a real traveler, to explore with no preconceptions, I would like to travel more like that, solo :) P. S. Although they were super nice to you, 2 ppl you met were also alcoholic, they need to maintain a certain level of alcohol in their body throughout the day and if they find company they feel better about it, so it's a little bittersweet because you can see they struggle with it
  • Interesting videos, watched them all, I’ll follow from Denmark 🇩🇰
  • Hey i live near there and yeah its considered one of the most dangerous places, its got cool people tho and i never had a problem there either, welcome to Portugal 🙌🏻
  • I'm portuguese, and i have family here from cabo verde, I admit that grog takes your soul from the body after a few shots. I don't beleave that you were in Cova da Moura and don't taste a typical food from Cabo Verde "Cachupa". Next time, you must visit the biggest hood of peninsula ibérica "Bairro Padre Cruz" its not far from Cova da Moura, it is in Carnide and i grew up there. Good joob with this video. Thanks to show the ppl that the hoods have honest ppl too.
  • Just binged all your videos. What a wild ride so far. I can't wait for the rest. Thanks man!
