a very different video and one that highlights a massive problem here in and around Barnstaple North Devon
on Monday 22nd January, a civil engineering project based at the Cedars roundabout on the outskirts of the town started.
just days into work starting, and the whole area is gridlocked with miles of traffic jams as normal hard-working locals, school children & just anyone trying to go about their daily commute is challenged with 20 to 40 minute waiting in traffic with many already trying to save their jobs
the roadworks are a hair brain scheme that was devised back in 2019 and voted for by nearly all of the local councillors
fast forward to today in 2024, and many are feeling the heat and backlash while running for cover as this has backfired in its infancy
the latest official announcement from Councillor for Devon County Council's Cabinet Member for Highways Management, Stuart Hughes

recommended various strategies for residents, including working from home, starting journeys earlier, or exploring alternative forms of transport.
"I apologise for any inconvenience caused, and please be assured that every effort is being made to remedy the situation and improve traffic flow during the course of these works.”
there is a public petition calling for an immediate stop of these works, and so far, at the time of this video description being written, it's surpassed over 1000 signatures (Wednesday 24th January 2300hrs)
