This is a tribute to Laura Branigan.
Today we remember one of the most beautiful and talented American singers of the 80s. Did you know she also sang in Spanish?
Her full name was Laura Ann Branigan, of Irish and Italian descent, born in New York on July 3, 1952. From a young age, she loved acting and music. Since her family did not have good financial resources, she worked as a waitress to pay for theater classes at the New York Academy of Dramatic Arts. In the music field, she started her career as a backing vocalist for Canadian singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen and also belonged for a brief period to a band called Meadow, until she signed her first contract with Atlantic Records in 1979.
However, her first album took a while to come out because the record label did not know how to promote her, as she had a very powerful, strong voice with a range of four octaves.
