*UPDATE* The UL pack is a total of 60 liters - not 70

You have to do a tutorial on that paint scheme so we, too, can have official navy seal / delta pattern!

Painting things is how you marry your gear. Painting it is like putting a ring in it, if you're not planning on getting rid of it then you might as well make it yours

The magic in those skinny cords and thin straps is that the better ones are not made out of nylon. They are Ultra High Molecular Weight PolyEthylene (UHMWPE), which is basically generic Kevlar. That's why it is so crazy strong. This is your best ruck vid so far. Nice.

Good morning Grunt 😊. Having been a 0311 but not combat. And now I am disabled and 61 years old and can't do what I wanted to do. I became very good at UL backpacking. And you know everything adds up quickly. My thinking is shelter I use 3 different things while backpacking. A firm believer in a UL tent keeping bugs away I use a Terra Nova laser ultra 1 tent 18 ounces or Terra Nova solar competition 28 ounce though heavier it can be set with 3 stakes. So I will normally bring a sub 6 ounce hammock and a tarp I have several but if I don't care about the weight as much it would be my killer SJK Satellite tarp shelter system 12ftx10ft it's heavy and big but the Snake skin camo is great comes with 10 stakes and guide lines packed weight 2 lbs combined with the ENO sub 6 hammock with just that you have a shelter system you can sit in the hammock cook take a quick break ECT and you can actually put 4 people in it and gear at least to keep you dry . So that's my options I like from super UL as possible to big tarp . Packs well my go to is a Zpack Ark hall pack in a dark gray with extra lumbar padding and large zip pocket I use on the chest strap. Sleep system Zpack 10 degree XL quilt 900 filled down, Thermal rest x light pad or military close cell pad . I guess this is what you call the big 3 places to drop your weight as much as possible. But Jar Head Grunt like to bring the heavy crap .😊

I'm already using Decathlon's Forclaz backpacks. I'm rocking a 55 liter pack that was on sale brand new for $97.00. They are solidly made and worth every penny.

I have a Forclaz 50L I use for hiking, overnighters, hunting, etc. Best bang for the buck I've ever had, and that's many, many decades of using a lot of systems.

Another good gear review Randall. I have a few of the Forclaz items you have reviewed and recommended.
  • @danleasure3517
I thank you for your service and great videos. I'm no Ware close to your experience level .

I've liked everything I've gotten from Forclaz/Decathlon we enough (except for the fly on pants which only go down half as far as they should). Been trying to get another of the Hunter shirts you did a review on but they've pulled it from the US site but still have it on the UK site (or it looks like the same anyway) but won't let me order it. For packs I'm still quite happy with my Granite Gear Chief. Plenty of room, can carry 100lbs if I want/need it to, weighs about 7lbs empty and is the most comfortable pack I've worn (even compared to others I have like Osprey or even with 100lbs...as comfy as that much weight can be anyway). More options are always welcome to pick what suits a given persons needs best though. Glad we have the ability to shop around for that instead of being forced to use whatever brass decided was a good idea or gave them kickbacks.

Has a small weight limit, is not water resistant at all I think you convinced me not to buy it, thanks for the video

Forclaz MT100 is my large go to all the time!
  • You should check out the Mystery Ranch Radix. Just released. It's their take on Ultralight while still maintaining a rugged exterior.

Been using my ULA Catalyst 70L for years and they flat out work and about the only downside is they don’t or may not last as long
