Since moving to Minnesota in 1961 from DC, the Twins have played in three World Series. Each went seven games and although they won two of those series, they were 0-9 on the road. That’s because they went 11-1 at home, with the only loss being G7 in ‘65 when Koufax shut them out 2-0 on two days rest. This ‘87 Twins club was colorful but benefitted from Cardinals’ injuries to Jack Clark and Terry Pendleton, who only started two games due to a rib cage injury. What the Twins excelled at was keeping Vince Coleman and Ozzie Smith off the bases, particularly in Games 6 & 7.

That was 1/2 my life ago. I remember like it was yesterday.
-
Don Baylor safe by a mile.

Was at this game when I was 10. Loudest baseball game ever.

I will never forget this series. I remember this like it was yesterday. The Vikings could learn a little about what it takes to win a championship, from the Twins. The Vikings are always a day late and a dollar short. Always leaving something in the locker room. This group of players, left it all out on the field. They were not going to be denied. They showed up when it really counted the most.

This game really had some real excitement! 1991 of course gets much credit, as it rightfully deserves, but this was also a really entertaining series.

Gagne was a speed demon 🏎💨

This is funny people complaining about bad calls. Weird thing is that the replay umps today still mess up some calls. The best team still won this series.

This Twins team won their division with only 85 wins. This was back when the division was 7 teams and there was no wild cards. 89-91 wins was almost always the lowest bar to be in the playoffs back then.

I still remember watching the Orlando Twins, Double A minor league team at Tinker Field. Viola, Launder, Lombardozzi, GG, Bush, Davidson

I was so rooting for Kirby and the Twins
-
Man it used to get so loud in the Metrodome

❤ That was the best!! I was in 7th grade.

Funny that the run the Twins DID score at home, Laudner should have been out by a mile but that throw by Herr was tough. Game 7 was a real battle!

The 1987 Twins' home-field advantage was like that of a college football team.
-
Willie McGee had to have one of the worst outfield arms in history.

So beautiful

Cards screwed again by a bad call at first base in the world series. First one in Game 6 of the '82 series, and now in Game 7 of the '87 series. If the correct call is made, the Cards still have the lead, 2-1 going into the 6th. Granted, the Twins were screwed out of a run at home by a bad call, so I guess it evens out.

I still have the Wheaties Box

They got lucky on a few calls!
