As a senior single I used to get very sad on Valentines Day. That is until I had an Aha moment and got realistic about the unrealistic holiday. Firstly, it’s simply another way to get consumers to spend money that many of them can’t afford. Additionally, I realized that all the FB etc posts gushing over their perfect spouse are one more part of the social media intentional creation of a perfect life. It’s much like those who rent the spaces that appear to be the inside of first class on a plane as a photo op just to post! 😂 I also began to remind myself that many of the gushing posts on social media are far from the truth of the relationship. Ultimately I developed a sense of humor about the lack of realism that surrounds the day. It helped me to “ get real” regarding Valentines Day, You know ladies, if one isn’t selective anyone can have a boyfriend. Husband, partner etc. Honestly I know I’m attractive, intelligent funny , kind etc. Ultimately, I hope we all remember the above on Valentines Day snd have a good one alone. God loves us above all.

Thanks for sharing! You don’t need to wait for someone to give you something on Valentine’s Day. You can show care or love by giving someone something….maybe you can give them the gift of your time with FaceTime over the phone or the gift of effort by giving your neighbor a yummy dish or cutting flowers and giving them to your kids or grandchildren. You don’t need to wait for someone else to make your day special ….you can take control and make it special for yourself and others. Happy February everyone!🙂

Dominique, I truly love you so much as a beautiful person inside & out! I don’t always get to see all your videos but I do try to catch up on them! I lost my son a year ago March 1st, 2023, a few mos before your beautiful & sweet mother left us. I truly loved her also! I love your hair w blonde highlights! Our hair is so similar as I have that curl in my hair also where I have to blow dry it with a brush to stretch it out so it will not have frizzes & will flatten out. Thank you for all your ideas ! My friend buys herself a bouquet of flowers every week on Friday! She has told me that a fresh bouquet of flowers every week makes her feel happy!! Dominique, now you are reminding me of my mother!! Everyday she makes her coffee & then takes it over to her reading nook & begins reading her Bible! She does this every single morning! After she reads several chapters to several books of the Bible , she goes to her favorite YouTube influencers & listens to their inspirational devotion & recipe for the day ! She has several favorites from VA., TN., AL., SC., & FL., & etc…. If I don’t call her, she will be busy into the afternoon!❤❤❤ It’s kinda funny sometimes when I ask her what she’s been doing or why hadn’t she called me & she will tell me that she’s been too busy & I’ll say , “doing what?” & she will reply by saying, “traveling!”😂 I just want to thank you Dominique for brightening my day so much! Last year my dr had suggested that I might need a therapist(?) I thought….maybe I do(?) After thinking long & hard about it…. I decided that I didn’t need one as they do not know me? They don’t love me? I found that listening to caring & loving ppl like you helped me more! I believe that’s what it takes. A person that genuinely loves other ppl & cares about their well-being , that’s what makes a good therapist!! I haven’t worn a bit of makeup since my son passed, but if I listen & watch your videos everyday, it makes me want to do things for myself which makes me feel better! So thank you for that! Thank you for helping all of us women w your words, your kindness, & inspirational wisdom… And just your sweet loving concern for wanting all of us to be happy & be the best we can be!!! As for Valentine’s Day, I used to be sad if I didn’t have a Valentine on that special day, but now at my age, I really don’t care. I have my 2 dogs, that love me very much, a small glass of wine…or not, whatever I feel like doing….❤😂😊. Seeing others happy makes me happy!❤❤❤❤❤❤

Had two of my girlfriends over for dinner last night - so good for the soul. We try to see each other every couple of months, rotating houses. Our hard and fast rule is we don't say goodbye until we've penciled in a date for the next catch up.

Valentine’s Day is just another day. Like all other holidays it’s so commercialized I’m a 65-year-old retired nurse. I’ve lost two husbands, my dog and my father last year and my mother is in hospice. One son in his family and they are very loving and supportive.. but really the way our lives are right now it’s hard to find something positive with all that is going on, and our United States and our communities
