Main problem with M/K control scheme is that it feels really sluggish on the default scheme.
I ended up spending about 2 hours researching 1-2-3 year old forum posts on how to adjust the settings, regarding deadzone and all, just to have something that borders on acceptable.
And while it'd be great to have an auto-center function, like Freelancer or SWG Jump to light speed, the main counter argument is: "It's a sim!"
Which is gatekeeping at it's worst.
Developers stated it's supposed to be a successor to the X-Wing series of games, but while the style and interface may be so, the gameplay is far closer to Rogue Squadron. Which still had better controls.
The gameplay is, in fact, arcade.
I have yet to test it with a controller (have one right next to me) but I've lost all interest in the game, so I barely even want to bother.
Glad I bought it on an 80% sale.
Limits the monetary loss.
Also... it would seem that multiplayer is basically dead.
I was waiting for a quick match for 30+ minutes. -
Without a control is unplayable
