  • Hello everyone, this is Ross McDonnell, director of Swift Justice, a film about Sharia Law under the Taliban. Thank you for watching. We visited Helmand province in the aftermath of the Taliban takeover to see how the Islamic Sharia Court system was functioning at the village level for Afghans, what their issues were and crucially what role women had in the courts when they came to look for justice. We're here to feedback and answer your questions over the next couple of days. Enjoy the film.
  • Hard for people to digest but majority of the people used these Tal’iban courts even when they were not in power yet

That widow should receive a bravery award for speaking fearlessly
  • @hectorrijwan3484
they took "justice delayed is justice denied" very seriously, took only 24 hours to a case like that.
  • @JustHuman87
Blows my mind that someone was able to film this
  • I hope that as a widow she finds somebody she knows for a fact can care for her
  • @InfiniteStdio
He explained his point, and she did with bravery. Then the judge decided in a day. She decides her fate. Do not bother her anymore. Respect for Afghans. I hope women could study in the future so they participate in rebuilding Afghanistan as the minister said.
  • Her brother needs to read the Holy Qur'an, it says you may NOT force a woman into marriage, she MUST accept it too.

Translation mistake at 11:14, She mentions that her husband had 620,000 rupees not 62,000.

Dang! That's the fastest swift justice I have ever watch. In just 2 days, in freakin' 2 days.

12:59 This one small paper is thousands of times more powerful than years of arguments, bundles of files and judiciary law library.
  • @CoolAdam247
They sided with the poor woman and told the evil oppressive brother in law to F off which gives me hope for this world. Praying for peace and prosperity to finally arrive in Afghanistan.

I’m glad the Courts gave the sister her wish to live with her father. Buddy looks like a grease ball. All he wanna do is get high all day
  • @xondeez757
Honestly if I were to choose between a free court and a decision being made within a day or so vs paying tens of thousands and going to courts for years I’d pick the first
  • @bluetulip9297
“If you give a woman freedom, she will do whatever she wants.” Spoken like a true oppressor. Doing whatever you want is the point of being free. Both men and women deserve it.
  • @marykomu4356
Very happy with the woman's case....justice is justice
  • @MissesWitch
"these men are vultures" i'm surprised she spoke so powerfully, and glad about it!
