Understanding Wall Types per IBC: fire partition, smoke partition, fire barrier, firewall

these are confusing on when we can use them and when we cannot.

    I know this video is old, so my apologies. But in chapter 707 of the IBC, it says fire barriers can be of any construction permitted by building construction type.. In other words, in a type V, you can have a wood fire barrier. This also goes for the firewall, as I understand it. Do you have any clarity on that?
  • Hi there. Do penetrating items in smoke partition walls need to be fire caulked?
  • is the smoke wall, have to be caulk on both sides of the wall, top and botton?
