This video is all about how I created a small, Lofoten-Inspired environment in Unreal Engine 5. This video isn't a step-by-step tutorial like most of my other videos, but rather a workflow and process video. You'll learn how I created everything you see in the intro, from the ocean, the mountains, and how I scanned an old arctic cabin, with the help of RealityCapture.

This is too good! I legit thought the first shot was real. What a grand-slam of a video William!
  • I'm not a dev, I never worked with any game engine, never modeled anything in 3D, never had any interaction with photogrammetry... and here I am sitting, utterly mesmerized by the concept, the execution, the process and the result. Thank you for sharing, absolutely fascinating video.

as a lofotværing, this is very beautiful and im very grateful you gave our beautiful lands your time, effort and skill to create such a work of art

This was one of those moments where the content and value in the video is so good that you have to stop the video half way and subscribe to make sure you don’t forget to do it at the end.

I've being working into the gaming industry for almost four years as a lighting artist and i've been following your work since the first video you published. Your work inspires me every day and made me a better lighting artist. Keep up the good work. This video is by far one of my favourites. Absolutely amazinggg :)

My grandfather was born on the Skrova Island, Lofoten in 1926 I believe. He used to tell stories, life was as hard as you could imagine for a society like this one back in the day but he was also blessed to have been able to grow up in such a special place in that specific time. He later became a pastor and the best of men. Their childhood home is still standing and my parents visit sometimes. Hopefully I'll be able to go and check it out one day myself but I can assure you that there's no doubt that anyone who makes the journey won't regret it.
  • Thanks for inspiring a lot of 3D content content creators, I just can't imagine how many people like me are seeing this and will totally bridge the gap between imagination and creation, you have bring motivation to the table, so shortly you will see the fruits of you inspiring progress all over the world.

I'll be very Honest now, Myself being a Security Engineer, never thought about this line of work, or even cared after watching a scenery of 3D Model. You made a huge perspective change and deep from my heart i am really appreciating the work you have done and efforts you have taken to share this to all of the world. I don't get to see such great content but you inspired me to do great work and enjoying the same while doing, Thank you William :)

I find myself returning to this video almost daily. Not just for the art, but understanding the workflow has helped with my own work tremendously. Recently created a collection on mountains in Gaea to use for future projects. Such a lifesaver!

As a local lofoten resident, this first came to my (weird) mind: No one would build a cabin of this type here. Perhaps if it stood on pillars and been properly anchored. This cabin would probably have been washed away by big waves or wind in the first autumn/winter storm, it is located without shelter from the wind (trees, outcrops etc) on a small very exposed islet. And the cabin is too far down to the sea, indicated by the seaweed. Normal high tide is too close to the cabin. If there is a large high tide, the cabin would probably be under water. (Sorry to say that..). But.. it LOOKS extremely good!! Very believable and beautiful! Impressive how meticulous you are with the details, fantastic job! Thank you so much for this gem of a video!! :)

I have watched this so many times, and it never gets old. Its inspiring to see artists go above and beyond just to get their desired result. Kudos to you, i hope to see more videos like this that are not just educational, but also moving and inspiring
  • @teddygbg
This is one of the best scenes and tutorials I’ve ever had the pleasure of watching. Fantastic job William!
  • Can't thank you enough for sharing these walkthroughs and tutorials - they're encouraging and motivating me to make better work every time.
  • @amero3577
This looks absolutely incredible. As great as his edit looks. I think the before looks more natural, movie like. And the after looks more like video game type of look to it
  • I just love the passion and effort you put to make both these stunning shots and YT videos
  • @Killadey
Everything about this video is beautiful and amazing. The location, the programs used and the execution of the project and the video it's self.
  • @zx3d979
Instantly hopped on the vid when It got recommended. The whole piece is mind-bogglingly beautiful, the lighting is astonishing and in the end it left me craving for more. Amazing as always!

William, you're a blessing to this space. Everything I learned from unreal engine 5, I learned from you. Thank you not only for these incredibly clear instruction/education videos, but for the time and effort you put in to your production value. You are a true creative.
  • As an enjoyer of 3D models and 3D art, i truely do respect the work people like you do. Going to a scene and getting a model of the REAL THING. Cracks in the boards, bits of rot spread into places that make PERFECT sence, because it's a REAL THING! It's a wonderful thing.
  • so i just stumbled upon this based on a suggestion and im at a loss of words. truly incredible. it gives you more appreciation for 3d designers in games and the lengths they go to in order to make the virtual worlds we explore. thank you :)
