Don't make me tap the sign [MULTIPLE INTERPRETATIONS OF THE SAME VIDEO GAME SONG WITH LYRICS CAN COEXIST] Also check who made the art and voiced Luigi before you go "oOOoOOOoH YoU sToLE"
  • Luigi: "If you're still in there Fawful, know you still made one mistake!" Mario: "Thinking that we could never find a way to save the day!" Such a cheesy heroic thing to say but that's why I love that line so much.

"I have conquered galaxies- now I step down to see if a shadow can bleed" I LOVE this line so much. Maybe it's me reading too far into this, but the use of "step down" after his proclamation is super cool. It's like Bowser's saying that this fight is below him. Like he's just taking a breather from his typical work.

My brain: I’m not obsessed with this song at all! Dark Bowser on my 50th listen: Still here?

You know, there is something ironic about Bowser's lines. Usually, the flames he spits out are a symbol of his wrath and the sheer might that he is capable of. It's a destructive force. Here though? His flames become a beacon. The last bastion of light as the Kingdoms are plunged in Darkness, and they only grow stronger the longer he remains. His fire becomes a symbol of life, and hope.

It still stuns me how Bowser can defeat a literal dark energy godlike version of himself, but can’t defeat two regular-ish plumbers.

Always loved how Bowser is done here as well as Super Paper Mario: Hes not fighting for the good or because he turned over a new leaf. Hes the villain and no other villain stands in his way.
  • @MakutaNazo
Things both versions have- 1. Marios singing in my nightmares. 2. Bowser with a 'looky here' and play ground level insults. 3. A ton of talent that deserves respect.

Friendly reminder that in the original game, Bowser can solo this fight by outdamaging the emergency heal he does at the end. This shows that he is physically stronger than some of the greatest forces on the planet, and that's WITHOUT the power of grand stars, or whatever Macguffin the game has in it's current incarnation. He is ABSOLUTELY going easy on Mario.

You know why you're here. We're BACK WITH BROTHERSHIP!
  • Most people:Fight to save the world Bowser:Fights because the villain thinks he is tougher than him

Always loved this tint of melancholy and irony in the ending after Bowser wins the battle: - I have fallen... To come so far... So far... To lose... - Hey... You just ACTED like me. That doesn't mean you're ME. You're no match for the real deal, original Bowser... - Dark... Even with dark power completed... The unthinkable happened... - Right... You... LOST. Like aside from Bowser saying that Dark copy of him was inferior to him... He also admits that the fact of mimicking exactly him is why his copy lost even with all this power up - because Bowser always loses no matter what he does but why he is better than any knock-off copy? Because he never stops trying. That Koopa King is filled with Determination - you're simply out of luck that his goals never align with yours. Seriously Bowser's Inside Story was an awesome end for a trilogy.
  • I think the most beautiful thing about this fight is how Bowser comes into it. There’s no hesitation, no pause for reprisal, none of that. Bowser simply asks if the Dark Star is done running, and then in retorsion to his ultimate reveal of power simply exclaims “SO YOU VANISH!!”. Bowser never once doubts his ability to win during these fights. Or ANY fight in the game for that matter. And that level of confidence is what makes him so dangerous, wether he’s trying to kidnap Princess Peach, or defend the kingdom from an all powerful darkness. All hail the Koopa King.

I seriously love how Bowser is so in character during this fight. Sure, he's fighting the bad guy, but not because he needs to save the world or anything. It's because if ANYONE is gonna destroy the world, it can be the one and only Koopa King himself.
  • "Took my style? Well, I'm impressed! I guess copycats want to copy the best!" Ouch, hard burn
  • @ReySilverskin
I still love the opening dialogue. Bowser's telling this dark abomination to just fuck right off - "I admit you make a pretty good villain, BUT I'M EVEN BETTER." The whole song has a wonderful Broadway-musical feel to it, and it's fantastic.

Dark Star: Your dreams of peace cast aside Mario and Luigi: Dreams of peace taking flight Bowser: NO ONE CAN CHALLENGE MY MIGHT!
