It’s been five long years since the VW ID. Buzz first appeared as a concept. And we’ve been eagerly anticipating its arrival ever since. But now, finally, the wait is over. The ID. Buzz is here and set to become one of the most talked-about electric vehicles on the market.

The ID. Buzz is based on the same foundations as all the Volkswagen Group ID models. Known as the MEB platform, this is effectively a giant skateboard with the wheels, suspension and motors at one end and the battery pack in the middle. To help ensure that the platform doesn’t compromise the design of the cars on which they are based, Volkswagen engineers can tweak the wheelbase (the distance between the wheels from front to rear).

It’s available as a five-seater passenger version and a three-seater panel van which starts from £41,621. Join Ginny as she puts the new ID. Buzz Cargo through its paces in the UK for the first time. Has Volkswagen aced it with the new ID. Buzz? As always, we love to read your comments, so let us know what YOU think below.

Can’t wait to see the first coach builder to fit a pop top and camper interior.
  • I’d rather have this as a crew cab. Inexpensive interior with that powertrain.

Sadly cancelled my order as the numbers don’t stack up. 210 range in summer probably but certainly not in winter… I think the standard Transporters have some life left yet…
  • Certainly looks iconic with decent range. VW won't be able to produce them quick enough. Brings a smile to your face, except the price.
  • As a Peugeot e expert owner I can see this as a better works van.3.3 miles per kWh opposed to 3.0 kWh is impressive. So nice to be able to do the London run without that 15mins charge break.
  • @Yanquetino
VW needs to accelerate its plans for a camper version. People are lusting for it!
  • @GadgetsBoy
They got the pricing wrong but I absolutely love the buzz

Hmm, do I spot a Genesis G80 Electric in the background for future review?
  • Agree entirely with you Ginny.I'm on my 5th VW transporter since 1980,and I just wouldn't be without one.
