Franklin Covey offers a W H O L E lot. It is a methodology for managing YOUR ENTIRE LIFE. That includes family, religion, school, work, marriage... you name it. GTD can't touch that. GTD is more logistical, where FC is pragmatic, but cannot be separated from your core values. FC forces you to discover those crucial life values that we hold dear. It's about doing "What Matters Most", where GTD is simply about Getting Things Done. That's a B I G D I F F E R E N C E . FC is about planning, but also about introspection and getting a bird's eye view of your life. It can help you focus on the trees or the forest, depending on what you need. It truly is powerful. Sadly, most of us forget about the Weekly Compass, Big Rocks, Roles, and only use the Daily Planner, which I admit is quite powerful. Thanks for making this video.
  • I am in my 50’s and Franklin Covey is the OG of planning systems. (It didn’t really work for me, but I liked the prioritization part.) Then different people came on the scene with their systems. I like that you are talking about it now. I believe that hybrids of planning systems are good, so you take what works for you from any system. No system will work for everyone, nor will everything in the system work.

I agree sometimes GTD is making you busy, whereas franklin method makes you think about what's really important and get aligned
  • Heartfelt condolences on the loss of your Mom. Thank you for your strength, values, and what you do to help all of us.
  • @realorfake4765
I've been using the Franklin Planner since 1994. Awesome system.
  • I conducted covey system trainings back in the day - perfect example of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” - so many planning systems have come and gone while this one remains .
  • I would personally love like a “set up the day” example video. To see which inserts you use when etc. Hope that makes sense lol. But thank you above all for your videos!!! They’re always so helpful!!
  • @Marie-um6uk
I agree. This system was a game changer for me 2 years ago. I've consistently stayed in this system (I've changed sizes, but system is the same) this whole time because it's so powerful. Thanks for sharing it! I LOVE when people share franklin covey. It doesn't get enough love!
  • @Joy2Plan
I like to use different parts of Planning systems so I implement it into my planning. My system is a mix of Bujo, Franklin Covey with a dash of GTD. TFS! ❤️🤗

I struggled with GTD method big time. But absolutely love the Franklin Covey method. I list in the category of threes. So Must do, should do, and could do. Monthly for pre-planning. Weekly is where I put my top 3 things for the week or life areas/hot spots. Then daily inserts. I am a big fan of Franklin Covey

Sorry for the loss of your mom. I could see your sincerity when you talked about her. Made the whole video resonate with me.
  • I got overwhelmed with Gtd because having all those really long lists and then reviewing them each week got overwhelming and sad when things don’t get crossed off quickly enough. I love the Franklin system since starting it in 2021 and I feel like my future tasks either go on the future task list or are easy to stick on a post it note on the fifties task list. I keep all the monthly tabs in the planner so all the monthly task lists are in my binder too. I love that the system helps you align your values with your roles and big rocks.
  • Thank you for sharing how you use both systems. My planner journey started with Franklinplanner back in the late 80's. After trying several different systems over the last few years, I'm back to using the system. The prioritized task list makes planning easy for me.
  • @celiagallegos
I would love to see a video of how you’re implementing both systems! I’ve been following you for quite a long time & I have learned so much from you regarding the GTD method. However, if the Franklin Covey method can go with or supplement the GTD method - then I would love to learn how to put all of that together & at the end of the day just make planning easier for me! ❤😀
  • @colleen5236
yessssss I want to see a video of a deeper dive of how youre planning with both systems :) I love both methods. Overall framework of my planning is GTD, but I also employ FC prioritization on the dailies.
  • Ok this is amazing Ye! I looked into FC method a couple years ago but found it to be too limiting because of the need to purchase their printed insert packs which I think are kind of unattractive and I don't like their paper. But I love that you created your own version of printable inserts! Totally getting them, they're so pretty! I also was curious about why no one was combining GTD and FC systems because of their different strengths but VOILA of course you are doing it! You are a productivity and planner wizard I swear. Thank you for sharing these ideas ❤️
  • Great video and love how you take what works for you and improve upon your current system.
  • @glukkan
Thank you so much for this! I have been trying to figure out how to keep the emotional decision making for planning at bay and that reminder list is so useful!!!
  • I love the day on 2 pages format also. I don’t always filll up the second page but I do journal and write notes on it
