Ultimate BODYSWAP!! Custom AWD 1951 INFINITI Shoebox

Published 2023-08-05
About to be scrapped! This project started as a bare bone 1951 Ford Shoebox body shell that was saved from a farmer's field. Over a 6 month course of long nights/weekends Nick and his Dad massaged and transformed this old Shoebox into an AWD street machine. The AWD part comes from grafting the '51's shell over an INFINITI G35XS donor chassis retaining all the donor's performance and modern comfort features. On the street this Shoebox means serious business. The exterior it's adorned with G35 handles and hand shaped aluminum trim and LED lights that were set into the body for a smooth flush fit appearance. Finally, a custom mixed green metallic fade was applied paying homage to where the car was found.

That is the luckiest rusted out 51 Ford, left in the field to die in existence. You gave it a new lease on life and it’s better than ever. I wonder what it’s next 70 years are going to be like?

A modern oldie...... Cool I'm glad I watched it from the beginning! Sh... t.. I like so much that side windows they seem one glass! Waiting for your next project.

There are many tradesmen but very few craftsmen , you are one of the few . Congratulations on a fantastic project .

YouTube sent this to me and I appreciate that 😄 Solid chassis and the bodywork is outstanding. Enjoy your car!

Honestly not a fan of the grill but then again you did say you weren't finished with it. I am a big fan of the side window treatment. Overall though ...VERY NICE !
  • Thanks for producing such ideas that have gently touched my brain. I don't know a lot but feel I'm logical, so this build makes me happy.

Great video ... appreciate the shout-out ... I was ridin right there in shotgun position ... the car turned out perfect ... I'd leave the mirrors just as they are ... as far as heigth I like em low but for a daily it's works ... if you wake up in the morning and say ..."I coulda had a V8" ... just build another one ... great project ... you and your Dad should be proud ... ever think about doing this for a living? ...

That came out amazing. I would drive it every chance I got.

What a beautiful build! I especially love the roof line that you modified, the forward peak and rake instead of the original middle point and then the rear window that you laid down a bit really makes a stunning top end. I also love the transition parts that you made from the Infinity to the 41 which makes the magic happen. The lines of the grill whiskers complement the windshield divide nicely too. Well done Nick and I hope that you Dad has loads of fun with it!

Excellent work Nick, the perfect combination of old and new, it looks stunning - the subtle custom work and paint are spot on. I will look forward to the next project, its a nice change to see car get built and finished to a high standard instead of rough ill conceived fabrication, piles of bog/bondo, a coat of primer then shoved out the back because it would never get approval to be road registered. Cheers Greg

I51S And I thought the 51 would've stood for area 51 and the S would've stood for Spaceship. To Infiniti and beyond. LOL I love the whole build and how it turned out. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. You do a fantastic job and God Bless you and your family. 💯👍🏻👍🏻👌🏻🙏🏼

Congrats Nick, excellent result, you guys should enjoy the heck out of this. I think you did a fantastic job with respect to the proportions and made what could be a visually heavy car appear much more athletic. I like the slightly leaned forward suspension stance also. I'm sure you guys are going to do a bit more with it after summer enjoyment on the roads is concluded. The transition along the sides to the more vertical planes of the rear fender fins looks neat. But (and this is my only "but") viewing the rear from the back the visual weight is huge. Perhaps another grey accent line that starts at the side mirrors beginning very thin and gradually widening along the shoulder as it passes the rear glass and follows the valley of the rear fins down and then have both sides bridged with a horizontal stripe that crosses a bit above the exhausts? I don't know maybe I'm wrong but that's what popped into my head. Feel free to ignore the peanut gallery!

Been watching for awhile. You sure did that soon to be scraped body justice. Excellent color choice.

Looks great! I like the green. I’ve been watching the build every week. I’m a perfectionist and it’s hard to watch most hot rod builds, but you always make everything look so precise and nice. A true metal artist. It might look cool with a 51 Infinity logo emblem in the middle of the grille.

Ive watched this episode at least 4 times and it never ceases to amaze me how well everything came together. 2 cars 2 completely different makes ...years...styles and the final product kicks ass! Thank you and your father for sharing.
