King Dinosaur - Atomic Age and Stone Age collide when a new planet appears in our solar system, within sight of Earth, prompting a two-man, two-woman rocket flight that finds giant animals and reptiles, some reminiscent of our planet's prehistoric monsters. A key early low budget Bert I. Gordon production with the "prehistoric monsters" played by a magnified iguana and other lizards!
1955. Stars: William Bryant, Wanda Curtis, Douglas Henderson

  • The first 12 minutes are almost all stock footage. It shows the imagination used to make movies back then. Love it.

12:15 All I can think of is Ed Norton sitting in front of the TV wearing his "Captain Video" helmet.
  • What a textbook example of "So awful it's great"! Gordon could tell a story, and he didn't mind telling it as cheaply as possible. Love this film!
  • Owls, Snakes, Bears ,Sloths and Birds a very Prehistoric planet πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ€ͺ

Lady scientist.... "All I see is water and that means a bath!" Totally ignoring the possible dangers. πŸ˜‚ Seems they lifted the sound effects from a Tarzan movie. πŸ˜’ Joe is the best actor in the whole cast. 😊

I was really hoping that ditzy blonde would end up as dino chow. I guess they got about 20 minutes worth of survival training. New planet, no idea what is there, so lets go for a moonlight stroll and make out. I have to say, the first part up until launch was pretty good, but having stood beside a V-2, I have to laugh at the scene of it on the pad as they get set to take off, with the guys up top of the gantry. The idea of putting 4 people in that was priceless.

The Cub Scouts could have launched a better expedition than these four goons. The one thing that stood out: This was made in 1955. At 43:20, you won't see waistlines like that on any thirty something today. Thanks ultra processed foods!
  • @misterlyle.
Even in the 1950s it would make no sense to send somebody to an alien planet who will scream hysterically at the sight of the life forms there.

    I love it.. "It looks like a T-Rex" it's a freaking iguana!
  • @vernalc2449
WOW! Hard to believe that all those scenes on "Nova" were actually filmed on Earth! And they had no radio to stay in communication with Earth, huh?
  • @radioguy1620
Love the early rocket testing clips used in the story,. cant beat a crackle finish control panel with round gauges and toggle switches.
  • @ipris3971
Four scientist and not one of them knows east from West! Especially miss Whiney Pants!!πŸ˜‚
  • BEST LINE 54:30. "What is it?" ...."I don't know, but it's prehistoric"...."well, shoot it...DO SOMETHING" THAT'S THIS ENTIRE FILM SUMMARIZED IN ONE 5 SECOND EXCHANGE.
  • @stevehall383
At least they used a real baby crocodile and a real iguana.
  • @TheFenrir1080
Is this a good movie? No... lol. It's a lot of fun, with iguanas, etc, as dinosaurs. It's definitely entertaining in a so silly it makes you giggle way. Bert really knew how to make a movie!! I'm glad I was able to meet Bert several times and spend some time with him.
