With the exception of their debut in 1958, all of Sweden's entries have been chosen through the well-established song contest Melodifestivalen. While the early editions of the show brought mixed results, in recent years it has proven to be vastly successful. In this video, I want to give you a quick recap of all the songs that finished second in Swedish national finals and therefore almost made it to Eurovision!

Hej, since a lot of people requested it, I've also added the actual entries that Sweden sent for each year. Please let me know if you like this change and whether I should implement it for other countries as well! Thanks 🫶

Imagine if we sent Yohio in 2013, would've been pretty epic
  • I will never get over the fact Nanne Grönvall and Salem Al-Fakir didn't win
  • @roflc0re
    Salem Al-Fakir really got robbed

kommer för evigt vara sur på juryn över 2013
  • @JesseKuiper
First time since 2015 there was a Swedish language song in the top 2!
  • We should've sent Nanne instead of Martin S and Salem instead if Anna B. We DEFINATELY should've swnt Yohio instead of Robin S and Felix instead of Benjamin.

Dotter 2020 was amazing! By far the best song that year!

1990 was one of my most favourites, still listending to it! 🇳🇱❤🇸🇪

Oscar sia with "Human" could have won Eurovision even more today than back then.

Sanna Nielsen - "Empty room", Dotter - "Bulletproof" and Salem Al Fakir - "Keep on walking" was robbed. Even Danny Saucedo deserved going to Eurovision with "Amazing". Bad luck he competed with Loreens "Euphoria", the greatest Eurovision song of all time.

Still bitter about Salem Al-fakir not winning in 2010. And personally, I preferred the second place songs in 2013, 2017, 2020, 2021. But man oh man, I'm I glad Anders Bagge didn't win in 2022.

2010, 2013, 2016 and 2020 the 2nd place songs were much better in my opinion

Their non qualifier in 2010 really spurred them on!
