One of the most original Tunnel Ports being dyno'd at Eaton Balancing, Lorena, Texas. If your curious to know what these great engines were producing way back then, here is a good starting point. This T-P is about 90% original to 1968. After market parts...distributor, wires, plugs, oil pump, rings, exhuast valves, oil pan, cam bearings and ARP kit...Featured in the June 2012 issue of Auto Enthusiast Magazine

That engine sounds great and seems to be well balanced. Enjoyed it!

It's a tempting idea, to be in the rarified air of the 600+HP club! And mind you, that's 600 in a original motor, not too many people can say that. The only way I see myself doing it is If I can find a ORIGINAL Ford "D" cam. My T-P is all original and I'd like to keep it that way. I've got a friend who might have one, I'll ask him. Keep me up to date on your project..sounds very interesting. P.S...thank you for your military service and your dedication to our great country.

I was trying to drag race a BBC in 1968. 12.5 pistons, Isky, Holley 3 barrel when my engine builder ask me to come over. He had a Tunnel Port Ford with 2 4's on a single plain in for a cam change. He told me to quit wasting money on that Chevy. It was a car motor and the Ford was a race motor. He said he thought a tennis ball would fit in the intake, and looking at it I believed him. I couldn't afford the Ford stuff though.

Good question, the cam in their is the cam that came with the motor. The original owner had the more radicle "D" cam in their which would have made closer to 600HP. These motors were custom builds, so iĀ“m guessing there was never a specific cam set up for the T-P. I may be totally wrong, if thereĀ“s someone out their that has better info on that, please let me know.

I was going to ask if that was the "D" solid cam, my pop runs that particular one in his 390 galaxie. I'm thinking it's time to build a tunnel port.....
  • @MudBogginRoss
you know that ford demon is saying "Run the "D" cam"....a 508 hp 390 should be inspiration enough :D I know I' starring a 427"D' cam, 14.4:1 comp ratio, tunnel port headed FE for my mustang, it'll really get underway after I get my re-enlistment bonus

Never gave it any thought, are most dyno set ups on a stationary stand?
  • @vikotto
It's the more sedate "B" cam. I've been tempted to change it to the D cam because back in the late sixties and seventies, it had the D cam when it was being raced. But i'm going to leave the way it is since it already needs 100+ octane to make it go, why complicate thing? 575 HP is enough for me!
  • Cool motor, is it going into something? If not, IĀ“d be intersted in taking it off your hands. Let me know. Tunnel Port Terror!....
