Got some pallets I couldn't pass up...then found this video just while wondering what to do with these nice discarded pallets. God is good.. nice work Jersey Joe!

This is a great and easy-to-do raised bed construct. Local church wants to do raised beds - and this is a timely solution to their needs !!!

As someone who is a huge fan of building with pallets. There is an important thing to look for when choosing pallets, especially if you're using them for gardening. All pallets have a stamp for the method used to kill pests. Only use pallets with a stamp that says "HT". HT stands for "heat treated" Other stamps mean it's been treated with heavy duty pesticides " MB" means Methyl Bromide. Choose those with an HT stamp. It's usually on the runners , sometimes on the inner runner

đ Tuck TY. This is beautiful. I'm 73 and I'm sure I can do this.

The planter did turn out beautiful! Love the tips on seeking out heat treated pallets! Also the linseed oil - such a pretty, unifying and preserving, non-toxic, inexpensive treatment! Thank you, James! đđđfor Tuckđđđ

Very straightforward and easy to follow DIY video for anyone starting out. Glad to see the boss is supervising you too! †That pallet wood is in very good condition. You were lucky there James! The pallets we get in the UK are very rough and you have to sand them down quite a bit. I have made a chair, coffee table, vertical planters for window boxes and plant hangers and bits and bobs. I just upcycled our old sandpit for a bed. They also make super easy compost bins! I would have used the thicker central pieces that are square to do the corners. Pick two sides to over hang to sit on and the long sides to have flush to make and add a hoop house frame. You can also line the beds with old compost bags to help prevent the wood from decaying against the wet soil. You just need to make sure they are well sealed before filling to avoid giving slugs and snails a hiding home. Congratulations to Carly! Is the competition open to people outside of the US? I couldn't see any of the TOS regarding this? I think for the same prize value of the vertical towers and beds, you could do a giveaway with a variety of covers, like fleece, membrane, mesh, shade and throw in some tomato clips. Vertical staging/ mini green houses are also very useful as are cold frames. Power tools is also a great option as i have seen some sponsors for those like the hand saws and battery powered pruners? If just open for US people, then you could also do an international giveaway, where by you send seeds or a kneel pad/ merch or something like that. We all love a giveaway but isn't it a bit expensive to do it every week or is it just for a short period of time? Great video James and Tuck! â€
