Minecraft 22w03a is a snapshot for Minecraft 1.18.2, meaning we'll be able to mess around with the new placefeature command sooner rather than later. There is so much potential for Mojang to improve and expand upon this command.

Yo! I did some audio adjustments in this video, so let me know if you feel my microphone settings sound good, or sounds too bass-y. ALSO, sorry for the long amount of time w/o a video. Went through a lot this month, but I'm doing really quite well right now, and think I'll be good moving forward. I have another video due to release this Saturday ;)

This makes me want Custom Worlds to come back. Imagine being able to alter the world building rules so that your world generates exclusively with crazy things like this new Place Feature allows.

I'd love to have a "cave bore" command, even if it was noodle only it'd still be insanely helpful for mapmaking

I love that Mojang are adding features to the game that don’t just benefit pure gameplay, but also add things like this which only expand upon how creative this game can be if you look deep enough into it.

I feel like this command will be an absolutely HUGE potential for the future of maps. Great vid Ant!
  • @gulbeturbo
I miss two features: #1. You can't undo mistakes #2. Unfortunately, you can't generate structures (e.g. village, temple, mansion etc.)

This command is practically a game changer for datapack creators, imagine how much possibilities this have! I agree with antvenom
  • I feel like Mapmakers will be able to create absolute pieces of art using this command. I mean even the random trees with the end stone island looked nice! I can only imagine what people could come up with.
  • @ShinyMew76
I would like to see them add a place structure command, so you can manually generate End Cities, Mansions, Villages, ect

I feel like a "replace function" command would be wild to mess with. Simply replace the function of the block at with the function data of the selected placed block Make a specific ice block in your igloo trigger a redstone ore function of temporary redstone powering. Make an anvil into a workbench to frustrate your friends.

I love everything from this video, but placing end islands using arrows was the best.
  • @Desenrad
I just wished they added world edit like tools to easily build maps. This is a another good step towards that.
  • @Povilaz
It's honestly such a cool feature! I wanted to have this feature forever!

from what I understand, certain structures that use use structure blocks (woodland mansions, bastions, etc) and also jigsaw blocks, and can therefore be loaded in using commands as well, though it is a bit more complicated and I'm not sure how it would work. They should include structure block structures in this command! This would also allow mapmakers/datapack makers to define their own features, since this is already implemented with the structure blocks anyway

I hope we can somehow make custom features. That would be so handy for mapmakes! Like, if a mapmaker wants a biome full of crystal spikes, they can just make a few spikes and those spikes custom features, then spawn those features all over the biome. It would save them so much time!
  • @poopooman5138
I love this feature! I hope they add a /placestructure command too, like in Bedrock Edition.

    Bonus chests go BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
  • @Lampe2020
This command is great for map makers, as they now don't have to imitate those features themselves or copy them in on a complicated way anymore; they can just type a vanilla command that generates the feature as if it was generated on loading the world!
  • @mejkerer
Have you tried making a pig spawner using that new command? like, overlapping dungeon with a mineshaft?
  • @WildcatGambit
i feel you could use the one command you used to place items where you're looking as a rudimentary world painter feature? like set it to end platforms, paint your terrain then use the replace command to make it your desired block
