The Matrix 4 feels like the plot for a Matrix themed rollercoaster that you'd see on TVs queuing for the ride.
  • @soulance8342
Yeah, Matrix 4 was like reconnecting with an old friend to find out they got into hard drugs and have ruined their life...
  • @StahlmetallerM
Everyone going complete nuts on Matrix 4 and Jake just be like: "I just skinned a possum the other day."

Agree with most of the Matrix points but I thought the explaination of how Morpheis 2.0 came to be was pretty good - to see if his life is real or not, Neo codes an AI into the fictional game that has the curiosity of Morpheus and the anger of Smith and forces it to replay its life over and over to see if someone (or itself) will ever break out of its loop, just like Morpheis and Trinity did to Andersen in the first movie. Overall I though it was a fun movie, an okay movie, and a horrible Matrix movie.

They do explain Morpheus. He was an AI from the game within the Matrix Neo created from his memories of both Morpheus and Smith. So he has characteristics of both from the start. It's a convoluted unnecessary part of the plot.

Anyone else appreciate the first part of this podcast being these three fellas having a merch business meeting and just talking about being dads?😊
  • @JimelWalker
Glad I'm not the only one who came here to state new Morpheus is explained. Even drunk, I thought, hmmm...agent Smith and Morpheus combined...in a game AI that breaks free into the actual matrix...wrinkle in my brain.
  • I thought the scene of "the game is going to be made with or without you" to Neo was the director trying to let the viewer know where Warner bros was coming from when they approached them about making a new movie. I though the whole movie was an attempt to spike future matrix movies bc the original trilogy is a finished product on its own

To me, the movie was so bad across so many dimensions, it actually made me wonder if its an intentional sabotage of the IP in an effort to prevent Warner Brothers from creating another trilogy.
  • The new Morpheus is a NPC character in Neo's "Matrix Game" and is explained to be an amalgam of Neo's memories of Morpheus and an Agent. This new Morpheus is brought outside Neo's "Matrix Game" and into the Matrix. At least that's what I think happened there.

The Matrix 4 felt like a tax write off written by a fan on a reddit thread

I personally thought the meta stuff was the worst decision they could have made. It immediately felt like an SNL parody/ comedy where they spend a large part insulting you for liking the films. Not the right tone to set at all. The only aspect of the meta "matrix game designer" thing I thought worked, was that it was a clever way to gaslight neo's doubts about reality
  • @taylorwells3706
Worst part is that apparently, they didn't even ask Laurence Fishburne if he wanted to return
  • @fabienleydier
You had to play "The Matrix online" MMO in 2004, for 4 years, to know what's going on in the fourth movie!
  • @exath1
Watching the matrix 4 felt like hearing the wilhelm scream 6000 times in a row
  • @digiblu5
Conflicted noises over Matrix, Jake "So my dog killed a possum and I decided to skin it."
  • @TheJeannag
The fact that the code is inspired by Japanese sushi cookbooks makes it even more hilarious that they just fully had sushi recipes in their eyeballs X'D
  • I’ve been looking forward to this podcast for so long. Now, my week feels complete. Thanks guys.

Morpheus was a creation by Neo in the program he had created. He was a combination of morpheus and Smith because Neo was trying to discover the origin of morpheus. This was explained in the movie but was glossed over very fast. Morpheus wasn't a true agent because it was a creation from Neo
