Surviving Hurricane Beryl On Our Sailboat

Published 2024-07-07
This is our story of surviving Hurricane Beryl on our sailboat. In this episode, we find ourselves preparing for Hurricane Beryl, which has shifted its path towards Grenada, bringing with it the threat of Category 4 winds, rain, and storm surge. The anxiety is palpable as we and our cruising friends scramble to secure our boats and make crucial decisions to ensure our safety.

On July 1st, Hurricane Beryl, a Category 4 storm, devastated northern Grenada and its sister islands of Carriacou and Petite Martinique. Not a single building was left untouched and infrastructure was destroyed. Spice Island Marine and the sailing creator community have joined forces to aid in the rebuilding efforts of these beautiful islands. This joint initiative aims to raise funds for tools, building supplies, and other necessary items to rebuild small businesses that were completely destroyed. Without these businesses, many have lost their livelihood and the local community cannot get back on their feet. Learn more about the initiative and donate here, every little bit helps. www.risegrenada.org/

We survived the strong Hurricane Beryl here in Jamaica, with our good anchor...thank God⚓️🙏🙏
  • @svdeezknots
Great episode! You two are truly amazing for how hard you worked to help Carriacou. Hope you are able to relax a little now ❤️
  • I was on Carriacou visiting with my family during Beryl. It was quite a traumatic experience for all of us. Not just going through the hurricane and the fear that brought, but seeing the absolute destruction of the place I called home was even more frightening. The complete and utter loss and devastation is almost more than one can bare.

Thank you for providing this glimpse of Beryl from ground zero. Your livestream was also excellent. God bless you two and all impacted by Beryl.
  • @joeshmoqb

  • @lisasenn86
Thank you for your video . And than God you all are okay . I can’t imagine being on a Boat riding out a Hurricane. On Land is bad enough. Been through 4 in Florida and wouldn’t wish the devastation on anyone. Praying for EVERYONE affected by this Hurricane.
  • So happy the Adventure crews are safe , those poor people who have lost everything, my heart goes out to them 😎🇦🇺😎
  • @jeffhudson4817

Emily and Cole, May God bless you and protect you always. Keep God in the forefront of your videos. I’ve seen the mention of church and can sense your faith in the Lord. Now, I’m seeing blessings, prayers and God in the reviews. I’ve enjoyed your journey. Great videos, challenges, and the strength of God protecting you two through multiple hurricanes. God will always protect you.

Nice to see that you were responsible enough to take down your sails, most think a roller furling means you don't ever have to deal with sails again... like idiots. That's why they get destroyed in storms.
  • @koehf405
Thanks and I am glad you are save!
  • Wow. I have been through some tough hurricanes, Hugo in '89 being the worst and I couldn't imagine riding one out in a boat. Glad everyone is safe.
  • @EvanLoewen
hey guys! It's Evan from Dacia. We met in the Berries. I'm the "sailing off anchor to get some starlink service guy" hahah!! I'm glad you guys are safe! I'm currently in Rio Dulce and was tracking Beryl pretty closely. I had plans to get to Grenada this season, I'm now pretty happy I chose to come here.
