Note: This video was way longer and I went into much more detail about the abilities of each, but I didn't want a 30+ minute video so I cut it down. There are a lot of good tips people are pointing out in the comments that I didn't mention in this video. It's super interesting to see how everyone plays this game differently.

The cross guard stance is meant to mimic things like the Colossal swords from Elden ring and Dark Souls. Those weapons also traded speed for tremendous power. The problem here is that in those games you had armor, which gave you Poise, which allowed you to tank a hit without having your animation interrupted, which helped to make up for the lack of speed. Cal doesn't have that. The tiniest prick of damage will instantly stop any of his cross guard stance attacks, making the lack of speed much more significant and detrimental.

Man dude single bladed is slept on. It has so much versatility. It has the best gap closer out of all the stances, it has great mix ups, and can deal with flying enemies, groups of enemies and bosses.

Good thing to mention, dual blades are the only stance in the game that allows you to dodge cancel mid attack. For that reason I’d put it S tier for cc and boss imo.

Single being better than double bladed at crowd control? Interesting...

“You want to be dodging instead of blocking” It’s true that the stamina is lower with dual wield, but the skill ceiling for it is that there is an animation cancel for blocking on it so you can maximize dps and just watch for animations to parry while slashing. Then you don’t have to worry about the stamina

Anecdotally i found the dual blades to seem to have incredible cancelling from attacking to blocking/parrying.

One thing to add to the blaster stance, is I love how it turns the actual saber attacks into rapier style pokes and lunges, which I find makes it much better in lightsaber duels than you would expect. Also find the lightsaber strikes in this stance do WAY more block damage than you would think.

The crossguard stance is my favorite. With crowds I’ve found that it does kind of lack but it’s not that bad if you use your force abilities.

I used double blades for deflecting blaster fire, and then switched to dual wield for most melee encounters. Rayvis was kicking my ass until I switched to dual blades. The ability to cancel out of most attacks, was super helpful when I got too greedy and had to dodge quick!
  • @DeanGl
The double-blade is pretty good at deflecting back blaster bolts but for certain enemies, the cross-guard's charged deflect is actually better. It destroys the Droidekas's shield in one hit. If they shoot again, the charged shot takes a huge amount of their health and staggers them leaving you free to run in and finish them.

Single lightsaber blade stance is underrated.
  • @Astaroth-1
The spin on the double bladed lightsaber is broken on bosses. Absolutely melts their health.
  • @SquirrilahFish
Crossguard is FANTASTIC for crowd control, you just have to use you timing, parrying, and DODGING in-tempo.
  • @ABenAbides
I was able to cheese a surprising number of boss fights with the blaster stance: you can wear down their guard, and if you're both low on health you can finish them off from a distance without risking getting hit. I finished off Rayvis and the last Dagan fight with a blaster shot
  • @MikasaAckermann831
Im surprised you did talk about the counter in blaster stance. The move to shoot someone at point blank range right before they hit you is extremely op. Usually one shot most enemies and on bosses it does good damage and pushes them back
  • @gjdalupang4219
Single blade's really underrated, it also has one ability that makes it unique from the rest, the aerial dash strike attack, on some big bosses or flying enemies you can use it to close in, add one mid air attack then air dash out or do the aerial assault to drop to the ground or to home in at a knocked down opponent below. its one of the blade stances that makes you remember that you don't necessarily have to remain grounded all the time (blaster is the other one since you could do charge shots mid-air).
  • @Th_Uslss_Indvdl
I’m really hoping for a Ghost of Tsushima style of stance mechanic in the third game where you can use any of them at any given time. Absolutely hate having to switch them out at meditation points and work benches.

Crossguard makes the game very easy if you know how to time your attacks, I beat the game on grandmaster with it. Also, if you couple it with your force abilities, it can be very effective. You have to be defensive with this stance.
  • I think QuickDraw is a good way to open up combat, since you can take out a few dudes before they raise their guns. And it’s pretty helpful once you take out all the ranged opponents and create some distance from the shock troopers and stuff. I enjoy blaster but crossguard is my favorite. Though double bladed has sort of been my Swiss Army knife since the hold input shreds through defense. Of course I also definitely don’t have as much experience as you, these are just what I’ve been enjoying.
