Testing the Heating Pads in Cat Houses [From Inside the Cat Shed]

Appreciate the easy method without a Flir IR camera or electrical tester! This video should be higher up on the YT results. 🙂 I first put the towels/blankets and thermometer in a walmart bag, so they don't get dirty from the outdoor cat's heating pad. For reference the temperature on the K&H small (9 X 12 Inches) heating pad 25W was just under 100 degrees. I was surprised it was so warm, as I tested it at a temp outside of 0 degrees (-6 degrees wind chill). It would be nice to have a continuous monitor, so there is no question if it is still working every day.

I have the same cat house for our feral cat outside. The cat would have frozen to death without the heating pad and the feral is always in her cat house keeping warm. Our feral cat likes to lay half on the heating pad and half off the heating pad to be able to constantly see what is happening outside since we have coyotes in the area. (I don't go out without having a pistol on my person.) I need to put up a tarp to keep the rain out of the cat house because it is not 100% waterproof. Thanks for the channel since I am new to cats since I keep adopting the stray cats in our area.

if a cat has a hut with lots of straw in it, then it can easily withstand temperatures of -20 degrees. how do the animals survive in the forest at these temperatures without a hut and straw?
