In this video I take a look at the brand new Playmates TMNT Giant Leonardo reissue and air my grievances. I've got a lot of problems with these turtles!

Despite them being different from the giant TMNT toys I had over 30 years ago, I like these figures a lot. My only gripes are that they all have the same face as Raph, and I would've loved if they gave Leo two swords, and Mikey with two nunchakus, rather than giving them just one of their weapons like the original. For the price point, they're not bad figures at all.

I disagree the new ones are so fun! The price point is super nice. The cheesy smile is funny. I’m excited for these new release ones.

Thanks for these videos man they are an amazing escape, always inspires me to pick up my turtle figures and reposition or sort them while I’m watching

I saw Leo and Mikey at a Wal-Mart today. My only major complaint is that Mikey's nunchuck is just one solid piece.

Thank you for this review. I appreciate you taking a hit in the wallet to show the major flaws in this new "not so giant" Leo. Thanks again for a great start to my weekend with 3 awesome back to back to back reviews!!!

I think these are charming especially if you don’t have any biggies. $25 is a decent price for giants. I’ve invested probably like $400 completing the giants. The 4 brothers complete, bebop, rocky & dunkn’ Donnie with a custom blue ball (like European blue variant) 🤷🏻 some one was selling on eBay for $20. & giants accessories can run up to $75 for belts, $50 - $100 for sword, $ 50 for sai’s, $50 a chuck. & $250 -$300 for bebop & rock’s gun & rifle. I just bought them a tiny ar-15 replica from goat for $39 & made bebop’s gun. I also started 10 years back. These dudes blew up. $100 on average for a complete turtle & bebop & rock are $150. - $200 (minus weapons) & dunkn’ Donnie $250 & up (minus the ball)

Good review. I never had the originals, so I think I was spared some disappointment with these new ones. I really like the new ones -- Raph anyway -- but seeing the differences, I can see where they're lacking.

I like your reviews... you give it more details and your opinions.

It seems as tho they are like the prototypes as they show all on the back of the original back all had Raph's head mold and Kevin eastman had those prototypes from the toys that made us in the background. It seems those could be the prototype molds? I thought they were pretty damn good bootlegs at first just reissuing the prototype molds but no its official :] so this makes me think, did they actually reissue the prototype molds and because of Kevin Eastman's molds? Or just for time constraints to get a quick buck as for people who didn't have them?

That was fast! And well, what can I say. The not-segmented teeth are a plus to me. Plus, Leo doesn't look scared anymore! As recreations of the originals, they fail completely. As their own thing, they seem goofy and fun and I'll get a Donatello if I find these in the wild.

The original giant Raph never had his initials on his head FYI.

I'll be honest, when I found my Turtle haul a few weeks ago they had a few giant sized Turtles and I paided them zero attention. They could of had a Mikey and I wouldn't have realized it. Point is that I'd say most of us are more interested in the reissues on original card back. I think their efforts would be better focused on those.
  • Yeah, they went cheap on them, but they're still neat. I bought a Raph just for the simple joy of it.
  • @mksolid82
I think they look nice enough and very clean. I think a precision paint marker would probably fix those teeth. Owning one for display would be fine I think.

Saw these at my local Walmart today. They had Leo, Don, Raph but no Mikey. Here in Canada they are priced at $40 Canadian each which is kinda high. Really cool to see these on shelves for the current generation of kids get to experience playmates TMNT figures but for collectors wanting to relive those same figures this is not going to cut it. I ordered the Pizza Tossin’ figures from Walmart Canada as I never had those, but even that was disappointing to see that they seem to have passed over Donnie and only did 3 of the 4 turtles. I have the Storage shell turtles but most are in bad shape, no accessories, a couple are missing the shell itself so I may track down a set of those too.

I actually like the new ones. Will be picking up Raph.
  • Please tell me you’re doing shredder and bebop and rocksteady
