Thank you for making me discover many more things about bandpass boxes, every day I am more in love with this configuration, which is a challenge to do for cars in my regionšŸ˜…......I wanted to take advantage and advance to a certain point, although yes, bass reflexes can Ā“Ā“SPEAKE LOUDERĀ“Ā“ than bandpass-type speakers in a lower bandwidth range. Due to 6th order bandpasses having more capacitance and inductance agents, the application of higher power levels and cone control leads us to have a box system that will very possibly provide higher SPL ......I'm just leaving my vision for future exchanges of relevant information........a hug from a Brazilian admireršŸ™ƒšŸ˜
  • Hey! Just found this channel and I think it's great!! You totally deserve more of a following for the work you're doing

I beg to differ, switching from a port to a 6th the sound quality of the 6th was an improvement over the port. Reason why a port seems louder, is because a 6th is concentrating the sound waves forward into the cabin. But a slot port the sound waves just bounce around from the sub being exposed and using the trunk as a bandpass effect; which is also why ports tend to ripple trunks and panels and there's not much pressure in the cabin to get windy from wasted acoustic energy vibrating metal instead of projecting forward.

nice work,do you know anyone that does designs these days for money ? im bored with what i have even though it digs down low,i have a 2 door 05 blazer totally sound deadened like over a hundred pounds of deadener with two X 12's with a 8 inch aero port it hits super low and loud,i also have a 18 inch nsv4 in my closet,i wouldnt mind talking with someone about doing something new, maybe something more windy if possible, life is flying by you know so hey,why not,im a old school basshead and i really like the idea of new designed enclosures like the tap horn or paraflex or whatever its called, one of my favorite boxes was a bandpass with two 12's back in the day,and it had a sealed side on the bottom and then the upper part came up a little over a foot or so with a removable lid that had a 6 inch piece of pvc dead center,it played amazing on all types of music but when i popped in a bass cd like bass 305 or something omg it came alive so yea anybody doing anything holler back ok.thanks

Awesome video, I have 2 kicker q class 8s in a ported box an there in there smallest recommend volume of .66cu net per with 4" aero tuned to 33hz. It does sound good but know kicker subs like bigger box's. My frequencys sound like in the 40s on up my subs are playing much so I'm wondering if it's cuse I'm tuned so low or since I have a factory HU and using the wavetechDQ I need to set my parametric eq to a certain frequency to boost the signal around those 40hz and up ranges. I'm gonna eventually get 3 sundown x8 d2 subs and run them in a ported box that will be close to 2.5cu net for the 3 x8 subs. Could you maybe draw that up and see how much louder/deeper I might be over my current 1.3cu net ported box with my 2 kicker q class 8s in. Thanks alotšŸ‘Š

Nice explanation. Itā€™s funny but I never thought of a 6th order as 2 ported enclosures put together. I am assuming going isobaric would result in -3db across the board but would you get better extension because of the effects that would have on the enclosure size? Great job though.
  • Is this a thing? I mean a 4th or 6th you still port size and tube the one side the exact same as a typical porter box.. the second chamber in a 6th is just another ported box sized and tube accordingly.. they are simply two ported boxes put together to flatten the response range some. One can not be ā€œlouderā€ then the other in a way I guess you can if you peak the ported box out for like a +12 then make the box little bigger to make it little less peaky. which you donā€™t want to do with a 6th unless you want it to sound like ass with music.

what program is that you are using if you dont mind saying?
  • did you adjust the power based on bandpass tuning? 6th order band pass makes the cone move less, this means you can apply more power to force more cone movement, this in turn makes more output. I made an 6.5" SPL 6th order bandpass that outperformed my dual 8" fullrange speaker in bass output. the bandpass was tuned 37hz, 67hz. the full range speaker was tuned 35hz.
