What was supposed to be one of my most exciting car deliveries yet turned into an absolute nightmare. I will never buy another car from Carvana after they catfished me and sold me a dirty, damaged CTR LE.
I have 7 days to test drive and make a final decision. I really do love driving this car!

There is a reason Carvana doesn't want you to look at car before you buy it.
  • The original owner probably didn’t make his payments and thus it was repossessed. He probably drove the crap out of it because he knew the bank would be coming for it.

Your decision to return is understandable. If the car had 20k-30k, all of the issues you identified would have been digestable. For 4.6k miles, that's rough.
  • Never settle for something you want, especially if it doesn’t come the way you wanted it too. Nice looking car, but then scratches got me, especially when they didn’t mention any of that on their site
  • There is no way that steering wheel should look like that at 4,600 miles
  • I used to work at a Carvana vending machine detailing all the cars, the cars would actually come out pretty decent as long as we had all the right chemicals and car wash equipment. However when I got moved to the inventory lot to do the same thing, the job quickly declined, the zoning of the inventory lot gave us a lot of issues and the city ordered we could not wash cars on the property, now imagine all the sold cars that got delivered that we had to prep without the help of a pressure washer or soap. This man's experience basically makes sense to me but I can only imagine how others feel about buying cars from Carvana. If you ask me its hit or miss, you might get a deal, might get a money pit nightmare

I took a lot of pride delivering cars for Carvana, genuinely enjoyed the reactions of most people receiving the car they have been waiting for or saving up for. But the people behind it, some of the most double standard and self-centered management I've ever experienced. They use cleaning and detailing as a second hand chore or punishment, which is disgusting because I'm going over everything to make each delivery count, and 9 times out of 10 you don't have spare time laying around. Getting off the phone with a customer and mapping out my route and how long everything takes, only to pick up the car from detail completely half-assed because the person on punishment is just sitting around on youtube or instagram. Everyone knows how terrible a company they are inside and out, oh and by the way, NOBODY knows how to drive stick...literally nobody, and the ones that "do", grind your gears down taking 42 attempts to get it up the flatbed. And you thought the bumper scrape was bad lol. Stay away from Carvana. Edit: im talking shit and hating on them, but also how do they stay in business. Every new hire they bring on get a paid trip to Arizona for 6 days to "learn how to operate an Izuzu NPR flatbed". Airbnb, paid ubers, and reimbursed food/drink. They may not be doing it right now, but from the start of their business up until March 2020 with COVID they were flying HUNDREDS of people to AZ weekly. wtf

I agree, for those miles I would expect it to be pristine. The absence of the OE tires up front, filthy steering wheel, brake wear, and other indicators say it's had a harsh life up until then. Doesn't quite add up. Question is, is the car as it is, worth what you paid?
  • Dang, anxiety overload watching the delivery of the car come off the truck and scraping the lip. The scratches, worn steering wheel, and jacked shift knob, just return it. If you’re going to spend $60k on a used LE, you should get one that’s mint, they’re out there. Just my thoughts anyway. Interesting video, looking forward to the next

Definitely embarrassing for carvana to deliver a 4600 mile car in that condition. I understand they have a volume based business model and can’t devote serious time to every car they get but this car is in really bad shape for even 40-50k miles in my opinion. I’d definitely return it, knowing the engine was likely neglected as well.

When I bought my car last year Carvana was one of the places I was looking at because I had a very specific car and color I was looking for and they seemed reputable. After hearing all the lawsuits and allegations they are facing now I'm just really glad I didn't end up buying anything from them. I hope you sent this back unless you got a really good price for it. Also hopefully you had no issues getting your title for it because that seems to be a big issue with them.

I’ve worked at carvana at one of their inspection/repair centers and you’d be shocked at how many cars are fucked up like that. They may repaint a quarter panel or bumper and buff out some scratches but that’s it. They basically make these cars look okay for the pictures and put them up for sale. So many of them smell horrendous inside like smoke or mildew, paint fading and chipping, transmissions shifting like it’s full of rocks, all kinds of issues from mechanical problems to body damage. I would advise everybody to never purchase a vehicle through them. There’s a reason used car salesmen are typically labeled “sleazy”, now turn that guy into a corporate entity pumping out thousands of vehicles a month and you’re asking for trouble. Be smart people, there’s a reason they want to just drop it off to you and leave once you buy it, making a purchase as large as a car shouldn’t be as easy as ordering from amazon.

This is exactly how I picture any carvana buying experience to go, let alone with LE Type-R. That scraping on the offload hurt my soul.
  • @GuyX2013
The steering wheel, and seats definitely came from an ebay listing.

I bought a civic type r from carvanna as well and had no issues. I've owned the car for a month now and still nothing off about it. Steering wheel on mine was hella dirty as well, but just took some cleaning solutions and got that off pretty easy peasy. I had a few scratches on mine too including one the website listing didn't mention but I mean it's a civic type r. Can't go wrong driving one they're amazing cars. They're just in such high demand it's hard to get one local. Getting one delivered from Carvana was just the way go. Thats a bummer your shift knob was messed up
  • A few wood blocks could have saved that front bumper from scraping. OG haulers know what’s up.
  • @Jdm_fl5
I bought my 21’ R fresh off the showroom floor and it was an experience I’ll never forget
  • @brianiswrong
I think the delivery driver needs to be retrained on how to load/ unload a car,and maybe (by his own omission) not try and clean a steering wheel.
  • @ahkeen
Damn I would not take it. I completely agree with you for that price and the condition it’s in is not worth it for an LE.
