Warhammer 6: Intro To Map Based Campaigning

Published 2023-06-07
Why does everybody favor ladder and narrative campaigns? Because they are easy. Let's take this ruleset up a notch and play a campaign on Hard Mode.

  • I really like these kinds of videos because it shows people a new way and different way to play things. I especially like how you unapologetically use the miniatures you already own and just have fun

"Even thralls gotta sleep." -2023, Mr. Wargaming. Can't wait for the new campaign!

Priest Rickley. Very inspired. This is great, always nice to see the ideas bubbling out of the House of Wargaming.

Isn't starting a campaign the best fun? Just like buying a new army for a new project - all the anticipation and promise. Exciting stuff. I may like your Rampant battles, but you just can't beat watching your campaigns
  • Lots of good ideas for generating encounters and making the campaign more dynamic. I hope I can work on a proper campaign series like this in the future with a map
  • Yes, been waiting to see you do a map campaign with a more magic/fantasy system.

Names for the cannons: James Boanerges and John Boanerges, or Jeremiah and Ezekiel, or Elijah and Moses.
  • As Gerry from OTT says. The dry dead and the wet dead. Which is how I found this channel and Obscurities in Miniature
  • Curious to see how you handle casualties POW/Injuries for the undead. I tend to hand wave it, POW represent lose of resources for the undead side (not zombies marched off to POW camp), and injuries represent missing parts that need time to be fixed by the necromancers.
  • Yippee . Although I shudder to think that anything is beyond ' The Joy' . If you were to proxy in more of your figs , you could do larger or more units. Keep the front rank correct and the back guys are just casualties . 2 cents.
  • Shouldn’t the undead have double move? Since they don’t need rest? Or food? Or supplies?

Sorry, mate. I think I am going to have to pretty much steal your ideas here seeing as they are so fantastic! Been trying to invent a method of developing a map based 40k campaign and kept getting hung up on movement and avoiding duplicate battles. This system is excellent!!
  • I know this is a little off topic but I wanted to get your opinion. I was gifted a copy of the Solo Wargaming Guide and I noticed that Poor road and off- road are exactly the same as far as stats go. Now I get that poor road isn’t very useful but it seems like even a poor road would be at least some benefit to off road. I’ve been trying to come up with a reasonable mechanic and my best ideas so far is a small benefit of an extra inch or so after a days usage of a poor road or some drift from intended location when off road. Any thoughts?

Do some of the dead Romans not rise as undead if the Vamps have the field after a battle.
  • @Argroh
so a little hint of Battletech
